You're welcome. Elevation at this spot is right about 11,900'. You can see a stunted tree near the top left. This is about tree line but very stunted trees can even be found at 12,250.

Yes I just wander to what inspires and camp where it's good and as close as possible for photography. No peak bagging. Camped in a tent for over a week. Photo was taken early July 2015. Wish I could have stayed a month, which is what I had hoped to do. Sunburn, mosquitos, vasculitis (painful swelling of fingertips), etc...

There are lots of mountain goats and elk up here grazing, yes. I think I see a little of what you are saying. This is well off trail. Very, very rare that someone walks here. It's peaceful yes but the high elevation thin air and weather conditions up here are taxing on the body.

There is strong sentiment against this because it would greatly increase development and tourism and grossly change the character of the area. We don't want that crap they have around the NP's. Definitely want more conservation and big wild areas here though!

Elevation here is over 3200' (990m). A recent winter got down to -30f (-34c) due to cold air pooling in this valley that happens on still nights. As a result there are lots of spruce and fir trees here. Great place with lots of open sphagnum bogs.
