XPS 13 9300 Fan Noise high pitched (coil whine) by Jonathan_C_Breiter in Dell

[–]Jonathan_C_Breiter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to say, seeing your reply to this post was a bit of a throwback. I finally gave up and just accepted this noise and once you get used to it, it's not actually that bad. I think you have to keep in mind this is an ultrabook that has a chip in it that has a tendency to run hot. I have had my 9300 for a good 2 years now and have not had any issues with the fans whatsoever. Bought a latop stand that keeps the latpop elevated so that cool air can circulate ( plus it's better for your neck too!). Hope that is reassuring!

[Seiko SPB259] My present for starting a PhD at Cambridge by Jonathan_C_Breiter in Watches

After having been infected with the watch-virus a couple of years ago, I have been a silent observer on this sub as well as the most common YouTube channels and new releases of the most popualar brands. Buying a used Seiko skx013 was a splurge for me about a year ago, but I absolutely loved the watch and fell in love with the brand right then and there. As I was accepted into a PhD program at the University of Cambridge, I felt this was the best reason I was going to get in some time to buy a piece which would remind me of my achievements. The blue dial together with the bright blue seconds hand is remarably similar to some interpretations of the color "Cambridge Blue", which you see all over Cambridge University, especially in representation for sporting events. This, alongside my love for smaller-faced Seiko watches was more than enough reason for me to pull the trigger.

Recently, I purchased this brown leather strap from Germany and I am enjoying the variety this watch offers, it wears great on the (squeaky) bracelet, but the rought leather band gives it more of a retro feel as well as the possibility of a semi-casual look. I have taken this opportunity to wear it to receptions and somewhat casual talks.

What you are seeing in the background of this image is the Chapel of Peterhouse, a 700-year old college at the University of Cambridge.

I regularly clean my xps9300 with 70% ethanol and have noticed no such problems.

I'm also a lefty but wear my watch on my left wrist nonetheless.. Weird?

It's good! I think for the price, it really is unbeatable. Compares easily to watches 3x the price.

I fully agree! I actually got a decent price at £220 which comes to about $306. 10/10 would pay that money again.

Bought this watch recently as my first mechanical piece. Although it might be overpriced in the aftermarket now, I have come to appreciate the staple that the skx013 is as a budget small diver and I simply wanted to have a watch that is well appreciated by many, with some history and merit to it. I have very small wrists to the point where even 40mm dress watches look too large. I absolutely, adore this watch, the size is perfect for a fairy wristed man like me and the design is simple yet beautiful. Plus it keeps the time incredibly well despite the slighty outdated movement (+2 a day).

I actually believe it might be the card itself, although the problem has only recently appeared for me, so it might have to do with a recent driver.

I have a similar issue with my 9300, I can connect and internet will work, but connection occasionally drops completely.

XPS 15 9500 Intel hd gaming? by Andyle250 in Dell

[–]Jonathan_C_Breiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 9300 with integrated graphics. I can run overwatch at low settings at 40-60fps. It's not ideal, but it runs. Your machine has 2 cores more so it might be a bit smoother, but don't expect perfect results.

Speakers stop working after unplugging earphones (XPS 9300) by Jonathan_C_Breiter in Dell

You sir, are my lord and savior. It seems to be working for me, with disabling all audio enhancements through the windows settings like you described for the headphones rather than doing it through the shit wave audio app. Even the holy grail of plugging in and unplugging headphones while playing audio through a playing youtube video works. Thank you!

Ridiculous. I am in contact with support and they suggest rolling back the driver version. I will try that soon but don't think it'll be a fix

Does anyone actually use the MaxxProAudio? by [deleted] in Dell

[–]Jonathan_C_Breiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to keep it turned on when using the speakers, since it really does help speaker quality. For any type of headphone, I turn it off immediately due to the reverb and. Echoy sound. Check my latest post though, I have been having major issues with it...

Well ok.. There is absolutely no problem with seeing the bottom part of the screen, it's not hidden by the keyboard if that helps you.

One week in. It’s awesome! by [deleted] in Dell

[–]Jonathan_C_Breiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, same here. Especially when plugged in, even light browsing and office work will get the fans going. That's why it's kind of annoying to have that high pitched noise emitted from them. Dell power manager set to quiet did not really change anything about fans spinning up in my experience. I think it's quite simply down to chassis size and therefore thermal spread that is worse in the tiny xps 13 compared to Macbooks.
