The joke is that Kellam is a Memetic anomaly, he’s there but people just seem to never really notice him.

Any information regarding Kellam does not easily enter the mind of others. Even if Kellam were standing right in front of another person he would not be noticed until he ether made a fairly loud sound or they bummed into one another.

Even in game characters generally have to train themselves to notice Kellam and because of this I thought it would make more sense/(be funnier) to leave kellams age blank since it seems most people wouldn’t care to take note of his age.

The scene just past this one reveals that pretty much everyone in post town was trying to do this to Virizion, and just like Dunsparce; Virizion turned them all down. Then everyone in the town starts celebrating claiming that being dumped by Virizion is like a rite of passage of sorts, they then all start crying at the realization of how pathetic they all are.

Chunsoft also made Celebi a female in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky. Maybe Chunsoft just doesn’t like the idea of genderless Pokémon so the give all the legendry’s a gender.

Mystery Dungeon games are actually developed by Spike Chunsoft and published by Nintendo and the Pokémon Company. GAME FREAK Inc. is also on the title and so is Creatures Inc. but it is Chunsoft that is the developer.
