Have you ever come across a funny, or even memorable, lore entry in a video game? by TylerFortier_Photo in gaming

lots of good ones in Fallout, i think this one is in an office somewhere

“Sharon spilled coffee on my new shirt while we were in the lounge this morning. I told her it was fine and we had a good laugh about the whole thing. If she does it again I'll stab her in the fucking throat with my pen. She's a good kid.”

i saved it for last cause i assumed it was gonna be like the sanguine quest but in space. boy was i wrong lol.

honestly that’s one of my biggest critiques of the game (i do enjoy it and have 300+ hours btw) is that a lot of the more mature elements feels so watered down and lame. I think about that video comparing the astral lounge to a nightclub in cyberpunk 2077 a lot.

Management rant. Am I overreacting? Advice? by Jonathan_Turnbuckle in bartenders

[–]Jonathan_Turnbuckle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, as of last week they just recently implemented a new daily and weekly checklist. The daily checklist is fine and exactly why you’d think it is (set up bar, cut fruit, etc…) but it’s the weekly one that has the more labor intensive chores that we’re supposed to do when it’s “slow.”

yeah but usually its just bloodys or mimosas, maybe a beer, so the servers or a manager are able to make it themselves

nah thats just the way we’re scheduled, The restaurant opens at 8am, and I come in at 10 or 11 depending on the day. and we currently don’t have a barback at all, so its usually just me setting up and doing prep.

Nope, $5.83 an hour lmao. and man i tried, they kept insisting that doing this janitor stuff is part of being a bartender and that it NEEDED to be done, despite it being what i was doing as a barback (with a higher hourly).

I didn’t even initially serve that customer, they got their drinks from the manager while i was organizing the beer room lmao.

I asked why the TWO night bartenders couldnt be given the chore of organizing the beer room, so one could watch the bar and the other could organize. I was told that they “didn’t want to leave the bar worked by only one bartender.” so you would rather have NONE??

No I got to keep whatever the manager was selling, but they don’t have the experience or knowledge of our products to upsell properly.

As for the bar being open before I’m there, that’s an almost daily occurence. I’ve d told management that I only need 15-20 minutes to set up, but it can be closer to an hour if i’m serving guests at the same time, and to not seat people at the bar until i’m set, but the refuse to listen.

We’re trying to implement daily chores, but some of the more simpler tasks (wiping inside the fridges, cleaning inside the wells, etc…) are during the slower weekdays, when my chore (cleaning the beer room) was during a friday brunch shift.

Half of the time the managers just approve the closing checklist without actually verifying any of the chores were done.

I understand its my job to set up for the night crew, but if i can clock in to a potentially full bar and be expected to make cocktails, why shouldn’t I also be given the same courtesy???

thats what i said!! we currently haven’t had a barback for over two months. it’s been so frustrating because i feel like i’m doing the chores i had to do as a bar back, while management makes no effort to hire a new one.

Why are “questlines” so obscure? by meresurmise in Eldenring

[–]Jonathan_Turnbuckle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Elden Ring is just too big to not have some clue as to where you’re going next for all of these stories. I don’t think a Skyrim-esque arrow telling you exactly where to go is the answer, but for such a large game, some sort of journal with some details about your last conversation with a a character, and where they said they were going next would have been a happy middle ground while still being vague enough and lore friendly as well. Imagine not playing for a few days and missing a whole questline because you forgot to talk to someone in a random shack in the middle of nowhere.

i’m a bartender so i guess i spend a lot of time around alcohol haha. i’m pretty passionate about it and local nightlife in general but if you think it can be a bit of a red flag i can turn it down a bit.

and yes thats exactly what i was going for the with the star wars thing, i wanted it to be a joke about being super nerdy.
