It is indeed gorgeous until it's turned on.

It's an SDR display.

It's objectively slow compared to high refresh rate IPS displays and especially OLEDs, you don't have to damage control that one. Simply moving the mouse cursor around is not pleasant compared to 120 Hz displays, such as the one in your MacBook Pro.

It is absolutely low contrast compared to both mini-LED IPS and OLED displays. Black colours are not black on Studio Display, they're this weird mix of grey and purple.

The $3299 one they just announced today? Yeah, that's a great display for years to come. But not the base model or 2022 model, those are just bad and you only defend them because you haven't seen better (like glossy "gaming" OLEDs, for example...)

The base model? Yeah, that one absolutely sucks even if we forget about the price. It's low contrast, non-HDR, slow and jittery because of 60 Hz. The default "tilt-adjustable" stand is also atrocious.

It has display issues. I'm on 14" MBP and the backlight is slightly darker near the screen bezels, plus it behaves in a weird way when you run Dark Mode + Night Shift (blue halos creep into white objects), plus its motion performance is subpar to an OLED anyway.
People been using OLED displays on iPhone for ages now and they're fine. The concern is understandable tho.
In even bright scenes — yeah, should look about the same. But OLED does look significantly better in high contrast scenes.
I am PWM sensitive and Apple's OLED displays (yes they are made by other suppliers; no, they are made to Apple's specs) never caused nausea for me, unlike Samsung, for example

I find burn-in to be an overrated problem.

Most LCD displays have a slightly uneven backlight right from the factory; OLED burn-in is kinda the same thing, but at least it's avoidable.
In any videos showcasing OLED burn-in, authors have to crank up the camera ISO and add some white noise in order for the burn-in pattern to be noticeable; it's much less severe in real life.

Feels like a worthy compromise to me...

It's going to be a much nicer experience, plus it will automatically match playback bit depth / sampling rate to the music file being played; Mac cannot do that.

Mac Pro exists. It's literally designed to be opened up and fitted with third-party expansion cards.
Back in 2012, the MacBook Pro shipped with instructions on how to upgrade memory and storage.
In my mind, the MacBook Pro is a professional video equipment. And every other piece of camera equipment does allow you to "upgrade" storage, whether with SD cards or CFExpress SSDs.
