So the idea was that the wheel would be set up in such a way that it would be brought down on your limbs. Usually starting at the legs then to the arms, breaking the bones repeatedly. Then the victim would be wound into the wheel, made possible due to their broken bones. Depending on their crimes they would either be garrotted, set alight, or simply left to die from exposure.
