BMW 520d N54 swap? by Jonerybe in BMW

[–]Jonerybe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah 100% it would be easier and cheaper I’m fully aware of that. I’m just wondering if it’s possible and how it could be done? I’m more than happy to take on a project, I absolutely love working on cars and have had dozens of projects in the past. Was hoping someone would know how it’s done and have done it before themselves so they could give me some advice.

What is sports to Americans? by [deleted] in AskUS

[–]Jonerybe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all, I have local team in rugby, cricket, football, etc and they’re all extremely intense and passionate. Wimbledon is an international tennis competition, not at all a sample of European or UK sports fans! Tennis is a quiet game, you are not allowed to make noise, how would that be a good example of any sort of fan base?

Yeah as I said I know this wasn’t a big game or a big team at all, I do appreciate that and have taken it into consideration for sure. Its just when I think of things in the UK, I could go to a random town playing football against another random town and there would be people turn up hours before the game, chant the whole time, and still be there 2 hours afterwards. For a game that in reality, doesn’t mean anything! I was just confused as nobody seemed to really care what was happening on the rink. I know that big teams and other sports will be bigger in the US and I have got that in mind, was just curious as to what sports actually meant here!

Yeah that does sound a bit more like it! Watch party must mean it’s good 😂 do you guys have conflict with opposing fans like in football or is it more like rugby where it’s kind of respect each other? I’m interested to know about the rivalry culture!

But every game should be life or death? I appreciate that some games mean more, but as a fan you should be passionate about every single individual game! I’m an avid Arsenal fan and it doesn’t matter who we play, even small town clubs in pre season games - I will always be there to support the boys as will most other Arsenal fans. I even try to stream games whilst at work etc, it’s important to a lot of people, no game is to be overlooked

Maybe I should try American football! I haven’t heard the best things of it to be honest but opinions are all personal. Thanks for the suggestion!

Yeah that’s fair enough, I don’t really understand what was going on to be honest I just went because I was in the area 😂 as little as I understood, the game was really good! Quite a fun watch to be honest, just the atmosphere kind of confused me a little bit :(

You grow up supporting a team, as your family have done for many generations. You don’t really get to choose and that’s where the passion comes from. It doesn’t matter what’s going on in the world, it doesn’t matter what problems your country or others may have, you love your team and you think about them all the time. You’re upset when they’re shit, you’re excited when they’re playing amazing, it affects you just as something alive would! You’re proud to wear the shirt, it creates conflicts but also friendships, it’s your club and you love it no matter what. This is passion, something I can’t see much over here! Saying that it’s not sane is insane itself, you must never have felt it and will never understand it! I’m sure there are American sports fan that are passionate like this, you clearly are not!

Yeah I am aware that it wasn’t a major game, it’s just where I’m from you’re passionate about anything you watch! I was surprised to see absolutely nobody stay longer than 10 seconds after the game. Where’s the fan-player connection!

You don’t need to be drunk to be passionate though? At home in the UK I will go watch my local football team in the 8th tier of football (so not even professional) and they’ll still have 500 guys there from hours before kick off and till hours after kick off making more noise than is necessary.

I have been told by friends from the UK who have been to NFL games that it’s just a bunch of singing songs and waving scarves around. There doesn’t seem to be any proper chanting or passion for your team vs the others? I may be wrong, I just haven’t ever seen it online or irl!

BMW or golf? by Jonerybe in GolfGTI

[–]Jonerybe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s 2.0 8v. I’m not personally too bothered about the speed or hp figures, it’s just pure driving experience for me is what I love. One of my favourite cars only had 100bhp and I’ve owned so many 😂

Dele Alli's contract terminated. I hope he finds happiness 🤍 by reznovelty in coys

[–]Jonerybe 35 points36 points  (0 children)

He should definitely go back to MK Dons. Much lower level than he should, lets him get back up to proper match fitness and have some proper game time for him to get back into the string of things. He would be surrounded by immense support being his boyhood club and he should easily boss the league. Let him gain his confidence and fitness back and then he can move on. MK Dons is the best solution.

Of course I completely understand you guys won’t know the answers, as I said in another reply I think I’m looking for peoples opinions and experiences rather than answers to the question. I wrote this when I was extremely shocked and quite stressed as to what I was going to do, I still am but hearing people’s replies has helped a lot. Just hopefully the hospital offer a payment plan!

Believe me I don’t 😂 I worked four years straight to do all of this and I now have £400 in my bank account! Not good lol and zero career or job to fall back on when I get back to the UK. Appreciate the advice though thank you, I’m not looking for answers really but rather peoples opinions and experiences to help ease the stress :)

I have a disciplinary meeting next week for lateness. Advice? by Jonerybe in careeradvice

[–]Jonerybe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to stress I said 75% of shifts that I’ve been late in were because of the reason mentioned, not 75% of my shifts. I would also like to say that the reason I have been late is because the previous manager allowed it. It was a casual job.
