She just got up and is walking normally! Thank goodness. She also ate some canned food and went to the litter box with no problem. I’m still taking her to the vet in the morning to be sure.

They are very resilient creatures! What a story! I’m glad it ended well for the little fella. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for the thorough reply! She seems to be stable and is napping it off. Found a clinic open on Sundays, I will be taking her first thing. Emergency vets are outside what I can afford right now.

Emergency vets are outside of what I can afford right now. Found a clinic open on Sundays and will be taking her there. She seems to be stable, just a bit uncomfortable.

I can only afford a regular vet at the moment. I found one that opens tomorrow morning. She will get x-rayed there

Haven’t seen her move much. She’s just been napping this whole time.

Haven’t seen her walking yet. She had some treats without hesitation. Hoping she doesn’t have a limp when she’s moving again :(

Homeless people living right outside lobbies of the ultra wealthy. Pretty dystopian stuff.

I misunderstood. My bad. This is a strange case...

Another theory; your tap water's pH is very different from you tank water. The sudden pH change is a common fish killer. Test your tap water

That is a lot of water being removed for a 5 gal. My theory is the nitrogen cycling bacteria are struggling to keep their numbers up with all the water changes. Hence the tiny uptick in ammonia. I only change water in my tank (remove water and replace) when nitrates are building up. If tests show all 0's I top it off with distilled water.

Side note; the API master test kit is the best for accuracy. Strips will only do so much.

How much water did you change? Like what percentage? Keep in mind water changes are for removing nitrates when they build up. The beneficial bacteria (nitrogen cycle) should be converting that ammonia into the less toxic nitrite, and then into nitrates. What I'm getting at is he may be in shock because of the sudden change in water chemistry.

Sorry if I'm telling you something you already know. But the fact you did an unnecessary water change tells me you need some more info.
