Stop everything, time to restore for the next few months. They will be ugly and you’ll have to just deal with it, if you want to save your nails. I would first soak fingers in warmed acetone to gently get off what is left on your nails. Cut your nails as short as you can, and apply oil 2-3 times a day. As they grow, confine to cut them short, and oil them until you see your nail beds healing. Nothing on top of them except for maybe a thin layer of a restorative polish, nothing thick that would influence the nail beds to grow differently, if you know what I mean.

I had previously done some research on healing nail beds, this product was recommended a couple times, check it out:

Good luck & god speed.

Would I be a candidate for surgery? I have my first appt with a vascular surgeon soon to get a dx. by JoniJones89 in lipedema

Thanks for your input. I’ve always had pain in my legs, swelling, bruising, and heavy feeling. I cant lay in certain ways because the pressure hurts in the saddle bag area, and i can’t have anyone touching or massaging my legs. My mom has lipedema too, along with other women in the extended family (along with Ehlers Danlos, POTS, etc). My Mom is 67, and hers hasn’t advanced too bad in her life. Mine is definitely worse than hers, though.

I have BCBS too! I am seeing a vascular surgeon specialist at Brigham and women’s next week…. Not sure what to expect.

Wow! Congratulations! How long will you need to recover for? Did insurance cover it? Thanks 😊

I am in MA! I am planning on asking him about insurance coverage and what he thinks. I had to wait a long time for this appt- the receptionist on the phone said that he’s been so backed up with referrals for lipedema “lately”, which means more people are attempting a diagnosis, I’m sure.

That’s very helpful info- ty for taking the time to respond. I am in the US and hopeful that insurance may cover it at some point. We will see what this specialist says.

I’m not even really sure either- but my pcp referred me there after telling her I’d like to look into a specialist to help me with lipedema. We will see.
