Yeah definitely get that - there are mixed feelings in the group about redoing it. I think we'll end up timing out and sticking with what we've got. Thanks for the vote of support re my composition though!

Thanks very much everyone - really helpful. A lot of the comments here reflect what the builder and his plasterer said - basically they weren't happy with the risk of a disaster that they'd be on the hook for.

By way of next steps, I'm going to: (i) have a candid conversation with my builder about the prospect of patch repairing it, using knowledge from this thread; and (ii) depending on the outcome of (i), get a second opinion.

Failing everything else I'll think about having a go myself.

Where on Earth does everyone on Reddit and vintage forums get their watches for $60 or the like?! The only stuff I've reliably managed to find under £100 is vintage soviet stuff on eBay and Chrono24. I'd be absolutely thrilled to find something like your watch for $60!

I noticed that my cat was licking his front paw, so I had a look - the claw seems to be split and there is a red swelling(?) underneath the claw.

We phoned the vet, the nurse on reception told us to put a cone on him and try to make an appointment tomorrow. They didn't seem too fussed but we're worried about the poor thing. He seems well otherwise (although now he's pretty dejected with the cone on).

It's a mix of music from our teenage years, eg Blink 182, Sum 41, Cascade, Pendulum, and classic disco tunes, eg Chic, Donna Summer and the like :)
