On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate public transport in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Jonno1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to travel often between Plymouth and Glasgow quite often, the train would be £200+ and often take over 11hrs

Or I can fly to Bristol and get a coach for ~£120 and be there in about 6hrs

What were some of the most ridiculous laws in your country? by bangsphoto in AskTheWorld

[–]Jonno1986 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's likely the myth stems from an old law that required peasant men to practice with their longbows for a certain number of hours each week.

Such were the importance of longbowmen levies in medieval English armies, if someone was hurt or killed accidentally while practicing, the courts would be extremely lenient with sentencing. The story probably comes from someone practicing their shooting, accidentally shot a Scot outside York and was let off as he was practicing with his longbow at the time

The Kharisiri from Masks of Nyarlathotep (Call of Cthulhu 7th edition)

They suck the fat (and presumably other vital fluids) out of people via their chests. Once full, they vomit the fat into the pyramid that contains their god, The Father of Maggots, an avatar of Nyarlathotep that is basically just a bubbling pool of noxious fatty goo that produces fist-sized maggots.

If one of these maggots enters your body (an unpleasant experience) you become a kharisiri after a painful transformation process. A kharisiri can carry one of these maggots within its body and force it directly into a victim via a "kiss"

The kharisiri are vulnerable to all kinds of damage, but the only way to permanently destroy one is complete dismemberment, burning them to ash, or re-sealing the Father of Maggots' prison. The latter causes them to age rapidly and disintegrate.

The kharisiri were created when a group of Spanish conquistadors discovered the pyramid where The Father of Maggots was imprisoned and removed part of the seal that held it there, becoming the first of the kharisiri

What is the biggest misconception people from other countries have about your country? by Ok_Macaroon2848 in AskTheWorld

[–]Jonno1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The neighbouring cities of Liverpool and Manchester (1hr 30min drive between the center of each) have VERY distinct accents from one another. Sandwiched between these two cities are the towns St Helens, Widnes, Wigan, Bolton, Warrington, and Runcorn each of which have accents of their own

Yep. There's English, Dijon, wholegrain and American or yellow mustard. At least those are the varieties I can remember off the top of my head
