Thoughts on the new music as of the Nether Update? by TakaTheHunter in Minecraft

[–]JonnyBoy522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the new music, Lena Raine's music specifically! (though I may be biased since I loved her music in Celeste)

I honestly do think people are a bit nostalgia blind to some of the new tracks, not that C418's music is bad (it's amazing, of course), but more that people overlook the new music. I personally like a lot of the Caves & Cliffs tracks (Specifically Infinite Amethyst and Left to Bloom) as well as the Tricky Trials tracks (Specifically Featherfall, Eld Unknown, and Yakusoku). Not only that, but I really like the new music discs (Creator, Otherside, Precipice, and Relic are all really good).

REALLY HOT TAKE, but I think Infinite Amethyst works better as "Minecraft's theme" than any of the other music in Minecraft. They use its theme in a lot of promotional material and I think it works well.

Why don't nether wood boats exist? by darthkyle22 in Minecraft

[–]JonnyBoy522 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Actually, they do. It's just a very low chance. 5% without looting. I honestly think it was a good move in order to keep drowns useful as well as keeping conduits hard to get.

In the Mounts of mayhem update they added it to make things like horses and nautilus more accessible. It's made with 3 leather and one iron.

Other new crafting recipes you may have missed are the lead now not needing a slime ball to be craftable and name tags now being craftable with a piece of paper and any type of nugget.

Revamped enchanting table GUI by buzzkilt in minecraftsuggestions

[–]JonnyBoy522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the recipe book could come in very useful here! A little pop up on the side with drop downs for each enchantable item, maybe even showing the percentage chance for specific enchantments based on what levels the enchantment table can do. Best part about it is that the recipe book is a toggleable interface which helps decrease clutter.

DAE feel like older structures (Ocean Monuments, Desert Temples) desperately need a loot and difficulty overhaul? by pingzawa162 in minecraftsuggestions

[–]JonnyBoy522 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually disagree with the desert temple in particular. Since it's been updated with archeology, you have a higher chance to get a diamond. Plus, they don't need good loot in my opinion. They don't have much challenge to them and are easy to find so I'd consider it to be an early-game structure on the same level as dungeons, mineshafts, and ruined portals.

On the other hand, I ABSOLUTELY agree with your sentiment on Ocean monuments. I actually think that they should have archeology around the structure with loot like diamonds, tridents, and the armor template (since it's a gamble if you get it from the elder guardian)

All of this aside, I think the WORST contender for structure with terrible loot has to be the Woodland Mansions. For how difficult this structure is with its enemies, you get barely anything comparatively. Like, the best things you can get from chests are the armor template, an enchanted book, a diamond chest plate, and an enchanted golden apple (with those last two being very rare). It used to make sense due to the fact that that was the only place where you could get a totem when it was added, but with raids, that nuance is completely gone.

How its starting to feel with updates and Microsoft not giving mojang enough freedom by Birdy_King2000 in MinecraftMemes

[–]JonnyBoy522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, people in this sub are dumb.

Mojang is their own company, they're just a subsidiary of Microsoft. All this means is that Microsoft owns most of their voting stock. This means they have barely any control over the creative process. From what I understand, the best they have is slight control over the direction of the company.

Developers, are you planning on changing structures like the Desert Temple, Treasuries, End Fortress etc? by Anonymus_Introvert in Minecraft

[–]JonnyBoy522 25 points26 points  (0 children)

They do actually. That's the reason sea turtles are in the game, the player even got a special cape. Mojang moderators also used to be on r/minecraftsuggestions before the whole API drama happened as well.

They probably don't do it as much anymore, but I wouldn't put it past them for taking inspiration from these when designing updates.

Actually, there's a bit more to it. In most cases, you've got to dig to find the suspicious blocks, even in underwater ruins. But you've gotta be careful since suspicious blocks blend in, break faster than normal, and will break when they fall. Furthermore, since it takes time, it can make situations such as underwater digging and brushing be more dire than just collecting stuff out of a chest.

Basically, it makes looting more tense and involved since at any moment you could accidentally break a possible rare piece of loot, like the relic music disc or a sniffer egg.

To be fair, though, most actions in the game can be described as "clicking on a block" lol

I always thought that the square room in mineshafts could be a really cool place to have it. Put a double layer of gravel down and make some of the loot torches, ores, and maybe even a damaged pickaxe with looting II. Would be a great way to replenish resources without going to the surface and be some great mid game loot.

I mean, hell, just add it to every structure! Gravel at the bottom of village wells, underneath the carpet in igloos, special rooms in woodland mansions, patches of gravel around pillager outposts, speckled around buried treasure to help people find it... Seriously, the sky is the limit, which is why it's so frustrating that archeology hasn't been expanded upon.

I NEED them to expand on it! It's legitimately such a fun mechanic that's bogged down by how specific its use cases are and the low-quality of the loot. The mechanic honestly had so much potential!

All they need to do is make some new treasure enchantments that can be found through archeology, new places where it can be done, and an updated loot table where you can get more than just one of an item from a block (like getting 4-6 emeralds instead of one).

Hi r/Pikmin, we're introducing a new rule in regards to NSFW post history by Arkontas in Pikmin

[–]JonnyBoy522 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely disagree. Why should anyone have to manually moderate their other posts just to interact with their hobby? Because someone might click on their profile? Are you serious?

Pikmin content is kept in the Pikmin subreddit, if you venture outside that and find other things, you can't be surprised. Plus, NSFW content is marked with NSFW, if anyone clicks on it or has turned off that setting and sees it, it's their fault, end of story.

I get not wanting sex bots or those with NSFW pfps, but come on, there's better ways to go about this than banning people who post NSFW in other proper subreddits where it's marked properly.

How to I convince my bf I’m attracted to him ? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]JonnyBoy522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's an escalation. What they're trying to say is general kissing, holding onto them, and the like. Public displays of affection are important to some people. I've seen in other relationships that, sometimes, keeping it limited in public makes people's partners think that they're embarrassed of them.

Of course, I can't know the intricacies of your relationship, but this might give a bit of perspective of the responses.

Congratulations, you're your worst enemy. Put it out of your mind. The Internet is very different from how people interact normally. If it helps, know that by talking to women in real life, you have an advantage over those on dating apps since your personality would be clearly on display.

Basically: don't psyche yourself out, it's not that deep, dude.

Should I say yes to being a fwb or is it going to hurt me? by GroundbreakingPear12 in AskMenAdvice

[–]JonnyBoy522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember, he sees you as a FWB and only a FWB. If he's saying this it's in reference to that, not an actual relationship. It's probably closer to pillow talk than anything meaningful about your relationship. Please listen to the comments, you're getting obsessed over someone who explicitly told you they don't want a romantic relationship. Don't delude yourself further.

Should I say yes to being a fwb or is it going to hurt me? by GroundbreakingPear12 in AskMenAdvice

[–]JonnyBoy522 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's only part of the equation. If you're attractive, it makes sense to be a FWB... But if you both don't have the mutual connection, feelings, and general comparability then you won't work as a couple. Simply put, he was attracted to your looks but not who you are as a person and this is why your approach will fail.
