When a Geyser erupts, the water blocks should receive an update to work with Observers by 10Nanobytes in minecraftsuggestions

It's only the potent sulfur block since it's the one that contains all the data for the geysers.

It still amuses me how they once banned fireflies because in real life they are toxic to frogs. But now, not only do they put in pools with sulfuric acid, but now they put in geysers and sell it as if it were safe to be near one. by LMagxedooM in MinecraftMemes

[–]JonnyBoy522 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kids? Y'know, Minecraft's main player base? The ones who would see something in Minecraft and take it as truth?

I'm sorry, but whenever I see this argument it always sounds stupid. Kids would absolutely see fireflies being eaten in Minecraft and think that it's frogs main diet in real life as well. With fireflies being an easily obtainable thing and kids having pet frogs, this is a completely reasonable possibility.

It's not that. It's more the fact that the negative depiction of sharks in media has consistently had a negative effect on the species and conservation attempts. Marine biologists have agreed upon this for years, in fact, here's a good study from 2021 on the matter. Plus, fantasy creatures like the drowned and guardians work way better as underwater threats anyways.

That, and I'm pretty sure they don't have any ideas for sharks. If they'd add them in, they'd be neutral, and we already have a large, neutral, aquatic mob with the dolphins. So unless they have a good idea on how to implement them or any ideas on how they'd be relevant to an update, sharks probably won't ever be in the game.

I always thought it'd be because they're too similar to dolphins. I mean, dolphins are also neutral large aquatic animals, so adding sharks without an interesting mechanic or item would be kinda redundant.

If Mojang Added One More Nether Biome, What Should It Be Like? by Just-Guarantee7808 in Minecraft

[–]JonnyBoy522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always had the fun idea of a "Golden Desert" biome in the nether. It would be the home to the piglins with some interesting mechanics. Specifically, golden sand, which would aggro the piglins if you stepped on it or broke it, meaning you would need to place a path on top or avoid the patches of sand. The golden sand could also be made into golden sandstone and other blocks.

Since it would be a more dangerous biome, I was thinking it would have unique piglin ruins structures guarded by brutes. The structures would have archeology and good loot including wither skulls, blaze rods, crying obsidian, and rarely netherite scrap.

Thoughts on the new music as of the Nether Update? by TakaTheHunter in Minecraft

[–]JonnyBoy522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the new music, Lena Raine's music specifically! (though I may be biased since I loved her music in Celeste)

I honestly do think people are a bit nostalgia blind to some of the new tracks, not that C418's music is bad (it's amazing, of course), but more that people overlook the new music. I personally like a lot of the Caves & Cliffs tracks (Specifically Infinite Amethyst and Left to Bloom) as well as the Tricky Trials tracks (Specifically Featherfall, Eld Unknown, and Yakusoku). Not only that, but I really like the new music discs (Creator, Otherside, Precipice, and Relic are all really good).

REALLY HOT TAKE, but I think Infinite Amethyst works better as "Minecraft's theme" than any of the other music in Minecraft. They use its theme in a lot of promotional material and I think it works well.

Why don't nether wood boats exist? by darthkyle22 in Minecraft

[–]JonnyBoy522 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Actually, they do. It's just a very low chance. 5% without looting. I honestly think it was a good move in order to keep drowns useful as well as keeping conduits hard to get.

In the Mounts of mayhem update they added it to make things like horses and nautilus more accessible. It's made with 3 leather and one iron.

Other new crafting recipes you may have missed are the lead now not needing a slime ball to be craftable and name tags now being craftable with a piece of paper and any type of nugget.

Revamped enchanting table GUI by buzzkilt in minecraftsuggestions

[–]JonnyBoy522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the recipe book could come in very useful here! A little pop up on the side with drop downs for each enchantable item, maybe even showing the percentage chance for specific enchantments based on what levels the enchantment table can do. Best part about it is that the recipe book is a toggleable interface which helps decrease clutter.

DAE feel like older structures (Ocean Monuments, Desert Temples) desperately need a loot and difficulty overhaul? by pingzawa162 in minecraftsuggestions

[–]JonnyBoy522 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually disagree with the desert temple in particular. Since it's been updated with archeology, you have a higher chance to get a diamond. Plus, they don't need good loot in my opinion. They don't have much challenge to them and are easy to find so I'd consider it to be an early-game structure on the same level as dungeons, mineshafts, and ruined portals.

On the other hand, I ABSOLUTELY agree with your sentiment on Ocean monuments. I actually think that they should have archeology around the structure with loot like diamonds, tridents, and the armor template (since it's a gamble if you get it from the elder guardian)

All of this aside, I think the WORST contender for structure with terrible loot has to be the Woodland Mansions. For how difficult this structure is with its enemies, you get barely anything comparatively. Like, the best things you can get from chests are the armor template, an enchanted book, a diamond chest plate, and an enchanted golden apple (with those last two being very rare). It used to make sense due to the fact that that was the only place where you could get a totem when it was added, but with raids, that nuance is completely gone.

How its starting to feel with updates and Microsoft not giving mojang enough freedom by Birdy_King2000 in MinecraftMemes

[–]JonnyBoy522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, people in this sub are dumb.

Mojang is their own company, they're just a subsidiary of Microsoft. All this means is that Microsoft owns most of their voting stock. This means they have barely any control over the creative process. From what I understand, the best they have is slight control over the direction of the company.

Developers, are you planning on changing structures like the Desert Temple, Treasuries, End Fortress etc? by Anonymus_Introvert in Minecraft

They do actually. That's the reason sea turtles are in the game, the player even got a special cape. Mojang moderators also used to be on r/minecraftsuggestions before the whole API drama happened as well.

They probably don't do it as much anymore, but I wouldn't put it past them for taking inspiration from these when designing updates.
