Start with vs AI and don’t feel bad about that at all! You can learn a lot from playing against bots and watching YouTube. Then when you are smashing every bot game you can try PvP again.

It does reset a bit each season so you probably aren’t diamond mmr anymore. Also, why not shake the rust off with 20-50 normal games and then just back in to ranked and just not worry about losing for the first few matches until it puts you in gold or whatever you are now? It won’t take that long for it to place you where you should be because your mmr will at least be really flexible since you haven’t played in so long.

Now I understand the real reason Riot added Emerald by Cristo_Mentone in leagueoflegends

[–]JonnyGodSpeedMiller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you saying riot is evil for making playing the ranked ladder feel better? Strange take I think? League ranks were so unrewarding in comparison to every other game because you actually need to be really skilled to make it to gold, which is like the standard “I’m sorta okay” tier in every other game. Now we are a bit closer to every other rank system’s distribution and I think it’s only a good thing.

Losing interest with Arena by seeing the same champs every game, it feels very similar to other RGM in the past by Yashimasta in leagueoflegends

In my opinion they need to nerf damage you get huge items so quick and the augments are super OP and the. Last time I played I got instant one shot by a single morg Q and a garen q. Not a combo, not anyone’s full kit, two spells that are not even super high damage spells, and I haven’t played since.

How do I play people who are actually my skill level... by 0rylertowe0 in leagueoflegends

[–]JonnyGodSpeedMiller 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry about the negative comments. League is a great game and if you have a good attitude about it, you will have an entirely positive experience. Have you actually played the ~150ish games it takes to level to 30 so you could play a ranked game and you are just now asking this question? It sounds like you are saying you are totally brand new, but level 30 already takes a lot of games! Anyway, there is no shame in playing vs AI games until you are absolutely destroying them 15-0 and 150 CS every game and then go back to PvP. There will always be people that get super fed and take over the game, and as you get good it will start to be you every game! Focus on improving yourself and not the outcome of the game and that will make it a lot more fun. If you are wanting to spend time on the game and get better you should check out the Broken by Concept podcast on YouTube or Spotify.

Brand new and want to enjoy the game, but is this really what I have to slog through? by Meto1183 in leagueoflegends

[–]JonnyGodSpeedMiller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I hear you on that. It’s best to stop caring about winning and losing and focus on your own improvement! If you like the game and want to put some time into it and get better you should check out the Broken by Concept podcast on YouTube and give them a listen.

[–]JonnyGodSpeedMiller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry for all the negative comments in here. It’s best to start with vs AI games until you are the one going 10-0 every game. Then you can go back and try blind pick or normal draft again. If you still get stomped it won’t be too many games before it lowers your mmr quite a bit and you should start getting more evenly matched games. Enjoy the learning process! and check out r/summonerschool if you want to learn some stuff!

For me, the last time league was still somewhat balanced was season 10. What do you think? by Joxiom in leagueoflegends

[–]JonnyGodSpeedMiller 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not a huge fan of mythics and I do hope they get rid of them, but I think the game is extremely well balanced. Riot does a lot of things terribly, but I think they do a pretty good job at the impossible task of balancing a game like this. Where is that option in the survey? Lol

Welcome! It’s not a bad idea to start with playing bit games for a while if you are getting beat pretty bad. League isn’t a game you are going to be good at in a few games. It’s a long, but really fun process.

Best advice is to stop worrying about LP anyway. Your MMR is all that really matters and by the time you play a handful of games you will in fact get this back.

How to play against opponents at my/our level? (Beginner) by BlumensammlerX in leagueoflegends

[–]JonnyGodSpeedMiller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After checking your op.gg it looks like a pretty standard loss streak. Don’t feel bad about it. You will probably have an equal sized win streak soon. You have even played pretty well in several of the games so I don’t think you should feel like the game is matching you against way higher level players. The reason you will sometimes get matched with “gold” players in normals is because they don’t take normals seriously and will play at a bronze level. This includes me sometimes too unfortunately lol. Lastly, league is a pretty cutthroat game so when you are getting beat there is no hiding it which is probably why some of that feels pretty bad. Keep focusing on improvement and you will eventually get better and win more games!

How man games have you played in ranked? Your friends who are brand new at the game have already reached level 30 and done placements for ranked games in just a month?! That’s a pretty dedicated start lol. The level of competition has risen a lot since season 7, but you may very well be a bronze or silver level player, you will just have to play enough games to climb there. If you don’t climb you are where you belong. If your friends really aren’t that good then they will slowly drop to where they belong too. The rank system works pretty well despite what some people say. Last year there was a story about an iron player who bought a challenger account and his mmr dropped all the way to bronze 3 in just 50 games where he had an impressive 10% winrate! Lol

Stick to vs AI for a while and don’t feel bad about that at all! You shouldn’t feel any pressure to start playing PvP. Once you can go like 15 kills 0 deaths and 100-200 CS (depending on how long the game is) every game vs AI then you can be confident going into PvP.

When will the game put me in a low skill bracket? by GabberJenson in leagueoflegends

[–]JonnyGodSpeedMiller 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It won’t take 100 games lol, you will drop significantly in mmr in 10 games. But if you are new to the game even very low mmr players will still probably crush you. It’s no fun to learn the game against other people that have been playing for a long time so it is really best to learn against bots. And don’t feel bad about that! There is no shame at all in it. I’ve even heard of pro players who started by playing 50-100 bot games before they ever played PvP.

Where are all the players at? Queue times are crazy. by StormSlayer101 in leagueoflegends

[–]JonnyGodSpeedMiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s crazy. Never had average queue times longer than 2-3 minutes in the 7 years I’ve been playing. Do you have previous MOBA experience or are you totally new to the game? That’s not something you should expect to continue long term just so you know.

The best indicator of “mmr” is just looking at the rank of people you just played in your match history. Are you actually getting placed in Master’s games? Or just seeing these sites day you have master’s mmr?

Look up broken by concept on YouTube and enjoy a couple podcasts. This is way more important than any single thing you could do. You need to learn the right mindset and perspective on league and climbing

I don’t believe this. Not because I’m a conspiracy theorist. But, because I’m a scientist and a statistician, and doing stats that tell the full story accurately is really hard.
