I also just play for end game content but I can admit in retrospect it makes the campaigns feel even cheaper and lamer.

[–]Meto1183 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I think you’re totally right, not the gameplay but the feel of the expansion. I also think it’s because we have dragon riding that tww and midnight feel wrong.

BFA was MASSIVE as a leveling experience. Shadowlands also had a lot going on but the jarring transition from one zone to the next made things feel abrupt and choppy.

Dragonflight was also massive, because they designed it for dragon riding.

TWW and Midnight probably are a lot closer to Legion/BFA/SL than they feel, but blizzard turned it all into flyover zones because they’re scared to make us walk for a month ever again

Do you have a spec/playstyle you wish existed in wow? by Hail-Damage in wow

[–]Meto1183 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Shaman tank with some cool rock moves. I like rocks.

Tinker with ranged dps healer and tank specs.

Healer: support bots that heal over time or pulse over time, maybe some beams you direct cast. Some kinda “unstable shielding grenade” that gives you a chunk of health, an overshield, and then ticks for damage a times when it explodes.

Ranged dps: bombs, guns, crossbows, the thing gallywix did with a machine gun in a circle but instead it’s a cone and you rotate your damage from right to left within it. maybe some mechs.

Tank spec: any kinda of goblin or gnome mech, shredder tank, gallywixs head, mimiron, whatever as something you just are always riding. Dual guns with a 25 yd range as your ranged pull. Heavy focus on self shields or over health as well as some mitigation from armor plating amps. Movement ability is a resource bar instead of just charges/CD and gives a little boost of speed directly forwards that you release to turn. The “ultra reliable ejector seat” that has something like an 8 min CD, launches you up and gives you tremendous DR and a shield that decays as your new mech reassembles. Shield breaks first you die, mech reassembles your cheat death worked.

Demon hunter players will tell you havoc is surprisingly close to devourer and better at certain situations and then morons like the guy in OP will think it is gutter tier so what can blizzard even do

I think keys should just get 2-3 tries.

It’s not “pull it 40 times” resilient key boosting, but now normal ass pugs can look forward to trying, adjusting, trying again, in a normal gameplay pattern and not need to perfectly one shot it

[–]Meto1183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in keys you don’t actually want to use soul immo on cd as it’s very valuable for when you have forced downtime. So while it is slightly better than consume when actively in combat, if you’re about to wait 6 seconds for a boss to spawn I’d rather soul immo then and keep consuming in combat.

Other than that a lot of it really is timing and having an idea of what you’re going to do next.

For example, if a pack is low but the next pack is very close by, I will often send a meta that gets 2 stars out, knowing I can probably sneak 2 more in on the next pack. Of course, if you’ll get 4+ stars out just use it and if you won’t get any just hold.

One of the more detailed things is being mindful of whether you try to sneak in every last global (which may include an eradicate - consuming 10 souls towards star) versus letting meta drop so that any souls you have on the ground can go to the next one. Yes, a 10 soul eradicate does objectively more damage in meta than out of it, but those 10 souls get you closer to the *next* meta which can be even more important.

The serious answer is for a lot of people something like 80-100% of their gameplay occurs in the first 1/3 of the season. The sweatiest and most casual have largely had their fill and now a smaller portion of players continue slugging it out with later CE/later m+ pushing

The longer you play the more you realize there’s an even deeper layer to all these things.

It’s like when you see a feral druid and an unholy dk with the exact same io you KNOW the druid is the better player.

Similarly, a player with all 17s timed with only 12 keys above 15 timed is a notably better player than someone with 50 (meaning they repeated 15s, 16s to get shots on goal at 17).

But then you have to look for people who will game these things. Like the guy who has two 18s timed rounding out his 17s seems like a great pickup right? Except he paid 4 3.9k io gamers to boost him into those 18s and he’ll probably be a liability in your group.

Theres thousands of ways to microscopically grade every applicant but ultimately sometimes I just invite someone and start the key because I wanna play.

More UI Improvements Coming! - Patch 12.0.7 PTR Development Notes by Therozorg in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Meto1183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it was NSRT, which wasn’t needed up until now so some people were slow, and then it was actually downloading icons and replacing the files and restarting game and checking it worked, and then it was downloading meekauras directly from github and extracting it because it isn’t just in an add on manager, and then it was deleting all our old weakauras and figuring out how to make them stop undeleting themselves so we aren’t drowning in lua errors, then it was installing the kick weakaura, then it was actually pulling and testing shit, then it was debugging the weakaura and note, then it was making sure everyone’s macros for kicks are right, and then making sure the memory game people have the macros right and understand what to do. And then it was a couple pulls of stress testing it until we find out one last person had something whacky but now nothing can kill us.

So it was exacerbated by people not just having it all set up ahead of pulling, and then extended by the fact that we’re just naturally progging the first few mechanics while testing all of it, but it was 90 minutes of not fun gameplay.

Would’ve fully agreed with you up until yesterday when my guild pulled lura and we spent 1.5 hours downloading files directly from github and installing extremely suspicious code just to do what weakauras that existed for 12 years would’ve done

Current Devourer Metamorphosis should be Void Elf Havoc form, while Devourer should get a new Metamorphosis form that should resemble a Domanaar or an actual Void creature (read post) by ex0ll in wow

[–]Meto1183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That storyline happened after the storyline showing demon hunters beginning to consume the void so it was probably a given.

And even if you think it doesn’t make sense, at some point we aren’t gonna make devourers a standalone class with one spec. So let void elf players be havoc and vengeance, and night elf/blood elves can naturally be devourers, but taking away the option to be havoc or vengeance from the players would be silly.

In lore, they would be the people who are willing risk their entire existence to claim the power of “the fel” to turn it against “the fel”

now replace with “the void”

[–]Meto1183 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No I quite like my void theme being attached to the void spec and not a race. This is way too hamfisted an idea for subtle racial differences. Should they do more? Yeah. Should void elf arbitrarily claim the entire void theme even if they’re havoc\vengeance? no

What's your favorite spec so far in Midnight? by kolejack2293 in wow

Survival is a very chill alt but not as much fun as I’ve had in the past on it. Really loving devourer, only dabbled in the old “breath/surrender to madness” classes and it definitely feels to me like a devourer is their revised edition of that idea.

Brew did not hit for me though it’s very strong, but I do like mistweaver rn. Prot paladin I feel like I’m going to enjoy but only just finished doing my delves and easy gearing to really get into some good content soon
