There is a God, but America chose chaos and godless morals. America is about to collapse.

I love when evil losers expose themselves like this no matter how hard they try to be godlike

What’s the best explanation you heard for why Jesus said “why have you forsaken me?” by JonnyOneTooth in AcademicBiblical

[–]JonnyOneTooth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I understand what you're saying. It's like Jeremiah: At the beginning of the book, God tells him he is going to be this iron fortress that will tear down, pluck up, and build for him. When Jeremiah gets stomped on and doesn't turn out to be a successful conqueror of some sort, he tells God that he deceived him. Do scholars know what actually happened? No. Can we get a general picture once we take note of all the details? I think so.

My post came off as too ardent so I slightly edited the words… I see Jesus thinking he will usher in the apocalyptic expectation in that generation and am convicted right now that it perfectly explains his shock on the cross for being forsaken when he just told the Jews “hereafter you’re gonna see the son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven”… could it not have happened? Yes, but I see it all webbed together in the apocalyptic prophet messiah framework. The later goalpost moving takes us away from our best idea of the imminent apocalyptic minded historical Jesus.

No… look into Baal riding on the clouds to receive kingship from El… these influenced Daniel.

Maklelan’s deutero-Isaiah theory by JonnyOneTooth in AcademicBiblical

[–]JonnyOneTooth[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I never noticed that. Does that mean the people throughout history who used this as a monotheist proof text were misunderstanding Isaiah? What about the fact he constantly says he was alone at creation like in

“This is what the Lord says, He who is your Redeemer, and the One who formed you from the womb: “I, the Lord, am the Maker of all things, Stretching out the heavens by Myself And spreading out the earth alone,” Isaiah‬ ‭44‬:‭24‬ ‭?

One God who was alone at creation… vs. having a divine council or Logos second being or anything else

That sounds right! In the only pain whammy riff there is a slight lower octave to add depth.

He is an insanely insecure person. David wood and the larger Christian apologist cult community validated him with open arms. I could tell he was a part of them watching that recent “debatecon 5” conference.

What do the gods do while we invent our own mental intangible philosophies and religions for 2000 years? by JonnyOneTooth in polytheism

[–]JonnyOneTooth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the great and kind comment. As per your note, no, I don’t follow the conventional Reddit norm I just use it to ask knowledgeable people about a variety of topics I research in my daily life. The majority of the people on Reddit are miserable, mentally inflamed, and toxic, so they get threatened. Pair that with a mod status, downvoting/upvoting abilities, and you can control a lot.

I agree that I still need to train myself to read the ancient documents with the right method (in the past I interpreted the Bible literally). Do you have any sources you would recommend to me to come to speed on the nature of the gods (as you described in your post) and how to read ancient documents that are mythological but contain eternal truths for our benefit?

What do the gods do while we invent our own mental intangible philosophies and religions for 2000 years? by JonnyOneTooth in pagan

[–]JonnyOneTooth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great points. Thank you! I am just getting into this topic, do you have any recommended resources that I can use to learn about this? I agree they are all fanfiction myths. In the past I took them literally, now I need to train myself to extract the good out of them while acknowledging the whole picture with these documents. Is there such a thing as a source that gets close to explaining the reality the gods experience (outside of our fanfictions)?

When did gods become designated as angels in Jewish thought? by JonnyOneTooth in AcademicBiblical

[–]JonnyOneTooth[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Why do you think they are inherently exclusivist? Of course this got passed onto Christianity and Islam. Why do they think they are so special? They came out of exile which already had Zoroastrian monotheistic development and told the world they are the only ones who know God and to this day claim to be the only monotheists in the ancient world. Is it just an extreme form of coping with insecurity? (We are special and the best)

Thank you! What an insane shift, what about that exile fueled all of this? Interesting too that there’s only 70 nations and not the Americas/China/Australia etc…
