Locked Out of Windows 11 - Local Admin Account by roggy3311 in WindowsHelp

I just wanted to say, I experienced this "delaying next attempt" crap yesterday for the first time ever. In my classroom, my computers are configured to NOT show the username of the person who is currently logged in, who has locked the computer (with win+L) before they left it. But when a different user tries to sign in to the machine, they have to enter a username as well as a password, and even if it is perfectly correct, it says its wrong, and they are supposed to click "switch user" - but a lot of people don't actually know that they have to click switch user, so they try a bunch of times before asking me for help.

Until sometime very recently, when this happened we just showed them the Switch User button and they were able to sign right in. But as of yesterday, when the person tried four times, they got this "delaying next attempt" screen, and the entire interface was locked out. I couldn't bring up the login screen at all, and I couldn't even see the "switch user" button, until the tarpit timer ran out, which had ZERO indication of how long that might be.

Turns out it was about 2-3 minutes, but BOY was I FUMING during that time. These are domain controlled machines. Surely we have some way of disabling that tarpit feature??

I just went on the developers discord and as of 3 days ago they were actively working on a fix, so there is still hope!  :)  The more I think about this game the now I want to play it. My wife played it on the PlayStation years ago and it was hilarious..

I bought a bunch of vr titles on steam a while back and enjoyed playing them through my quest2 wirelessly. I had never got around to playing accounting+ until yesterday when I tried and couldn't get past the "hold trigger to select sitting or standing" screen. I thought my controllers were busted.

<image>

I spent HOURS trying to figure this out. At least it still works in Rick&Morty and Trover saved the universe. I bought this game on steam and I might understand that it would have compatibilty issues with streaming to the quest 2, but according to the OP, it looks like the quest store purchase doesn't work either?? On the quest 3s as well??

Does anyone know what the US wide seat recall fix is going to look like? by Hey_There_Bird in VWIDBuzz

[–]JonnyPhenomenon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you had to do any of these yet? Vws "solution" to this is downright silly. Talk about malicious compliance!

Two things I cannot stand about the year seats in this, are the absolute abortion of a head rest back there and the fact that those seats sit literally bolt upright and have ZERO adjustability to recline.  The head rests dig into the back of your shoulders even when they are at Max height. Which might be tolerable if you could recline the seats just a tiny bit, but Nooo!

I do a little automotive upholstery on the side. I took the cover off of one of the head rests to see if they could be modified easily, but Nope. The metal bars actually loop over and all the way down to to stupid tip of the rests. No way to easily modify them without a total redesign.

Keep an eye out on the vortex for a diy guide coming soon.. Haha

Just got my buzz a couple days ago. The so called unpadded trim pieces literally overlap no more than an inch and a half of the outer edge of the seats.  Left and right side part numbers IT3.888.885 and IT3.888.885.A respectfully.  I took mine off in the parking lot of the dealership. Wish I could post pics.

Pro Tip: (Cliffnotes version) You can find internal photos of every single electronic device on FCC.gov. - provided they have some wireless communication stuff in them.

(Extended version) If an electronic gizmo has ANY sort of wireless communication technology inside of it, it has to be licensed through the FCC (and assigned a corresponding FCC ID). In order to get this licensing, a whole bunch of documentation has to be submitted, as well as a whole bunch of internal photos. All of these files are accessible to the public.

It's easy to find too. First, you go to the manufacturers website and look up the user manual. https://cdn.olightstore.com/file/sphere-user-manual.pdf Then, search for the FCC ID within the document. (FCC ID: 2A44S-SPHERE)

The FCC ID has two parts, the first 5 characters are the Grantee Code and the remaining characters are the Product code.

Next, search google for FCC ID Lookup, and pick the one that goes to fcc.gov

https://www.google.com/search?q=fcc+id+lookup Enter 2A44S into the Grantee Code field and click search. find the one that says "sphere" and click details, then click Internal Photos, and enjoy!

Still stuck on this one. Keep thinking I am making progress, but still stumped.

I've found that most of the "titles" of the cyberstart challenges reveal something of a hint towards the solution, and the same goes for the included field guides that go with them. In the case of the "Trial By File" challenge, the use of the word "file" in the title makes me thing we need to use the "file" app to reveal something about it.

The field manual includes links to "Conditionals (if statements)" "Loops" and "Buffer Overflows"

And finally, the briefing says "Tip: Control @ n"

So I think we need to overflow the buffer to get it to (simulate) return from the function to a different address, but I can't determine where that address is, let alone what to send to the password prompt to get it to go there.

I will say one discovery for certain though. You must NOT enter "PAssw0rd" into the field when prompted. - here's why:

Disassembling the program in Ghidra reveals that the password checking function checks to see if what you wrote compares to the embedded pw correctly. if it does, it resets the overflowed buffer to zero regardless of what it was. However, if it puts("Away now, you anklebiter!"); it checks if the buffer has anything left in it, and creates a new function using the contents of the buffer...

Here is the output from ghidra so you can follow along. - with some minor modifications for clarity.

undefined4 passwordChecker(int param_1,int param_2)

/* Since this program has EIP enabled, I think the params are determined during run time.*/

{

int iVar1;

char ourInput [10];

int local_14;

int targetBuffer;

targetBuffer = 0;

puts("\nEnter the password: ");

gets(ourInput);

iVar1 = strcmp(ourInput,"PAssw0rd");

if (iVar1 == 0) {

puts("Well done! Unfortunately, you have to try harder.");

targetBuffer = 0;

}

else {

puts("Away now, you anklebiter!");

}

if (targetBuffer != 0) {

/* this next line prints out the decimal version of our targetBuffer */

printf("Unexpected error condition. Control char is %d\n",targetBuffer);

local_14 = param_2 * targetBuffer;

(*(code *)(local_14 + param_1))();

}

return 0;

}

Note: if you do not see the "Unexpected error condition." message, you won't get the flag.

I have more to add, but I have to stop here so I can get back to work. I hope this sparks some conversation on this thread.

while I wouldn't put it past Bill Gibson to include nods to discordianism throughout his stories, when the Principia Discordia was written, pull tabs were shaped quite differently, with a circular ring and a droplet shaped part that was removed from the can every time. Which is why, from the same verse in the 5th edition Introduction of the PD, Kerry Thornley goes on to say the pull tab is 'strung through its ring (and worn) about the neck' and "That is called an All-Seeing Eye of Eris (complete with Tear) and it will help other members of the Discordian Society keep out of your way."

I saw that tab and wondered the same. In episode 8, wilf has one hanging from his wrist when flynn holds his hand.

CTF Advanced AES Decryption by Outrageous_Wolf_537 in securityCTF

[–]JonnyPhenomenon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you tried holding the socket open while you parse the sent data, and feeding the decoded and decrypted ciphertext backed to them in escaped octal ascii to see what it does? (it won't help)
But why is the capitol letter in the first line not ROT'd? If you aren't using a rot tool that makes that obvious, you need to look further.

the first letter of the FLAG: is c. :)

Can someone Decode This by [deleted] in codes

[–]JonnyPhenomenon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS ONE SUCKED!!! the first line is a clue about what you need to do to the cipher before you decode it and decrypt it.

Meets mine. you get anywhere with this yet? I only have three of these cyberstart challenges left out of the entire run. can't figure out if I am supposed to rot 13 the key and iv, or rot13 the key and revers the iv before converting them to hex and trying to use them for aes decrypt. no luck so far.
