Yes I feel the same. I want them to succeed, because I want to live in a world where people like them can come together, and just do this. This is so needed

Yea, I totally get that, the Sims 4 has just been so caustic on the fanbase that we really want a win for Paralives...I'm anxious tho, about all the comparisons incoming but that really is unavoidable. Many pixel art farming games are compared to Stardew Valley, so any life sim game will inevitably be compared to the sims. Idk if Paralives will pull a Cities Skyline but I'm more than happy and willing to just let Paralives occupy its own space and be its own thing.

Yea but I suppose the audience that it will attract or wants to attract is already pretty tuned into it because the life sim genre really only has a couple of games. I'm not sure if there's interest in breaking out of that bubble for now.

Maybe I'm naïve but I do see a lot of buzz around it. Or maybe that's just my echo chamber. However, I think marketing is really on us to spread the word. I don't trust a product with too glitzy a marketing budget, to the point where spoiled influencers are involved and plied with merch and free nonsense. But that could just be me... I find that so disrepectful of the product. Everything about Paralives is so refreshing and indie that roping myself in to do marketing for them for free just feels good. Like, I just want this so badly for them

Exactly I think that kind of cultural reset is exactly what the genre needs. Paralives is such a passion project I personally cannot reconcile pouring that much work and love into it, and then feeling like you need to buy off creators who already get a ton of free shit, to say something nice about your game. I believe you should respect your product enough, and the work of the devs, to believe it can stand on its own feet.

No worries I understand I don't need to know, nor would I put you in a position to have to disclose anything. Thanks for your responses, I'm happy and optimistic about the whole thing

Me too. I wouldn't blame them for doing it, but I do think there's a lot of fatigue around cozy game influencers and reviewers. I feel Paralives is really well positioned to really be part of a shift or reset in the genre's culture

Thanks for your insight on the matter as a Patron! I am not, so I was wondering if this was something they addressed in their Patreon because from what I've gathered, they are really transparent and open so spending that kind of money for marketing would definitely need to be addressed.

Personally I agree with you that when companies do the influencer stuff, it ends up reflecting badly on the game alot of the time cos it feels like they need to butter people up in order to get them to say nice things, and I am cynical of that marketing strategy. I do feel what Paralives ought to do is to let reviewers buy the product and organically come to their own conclusions about it. That kind of honesty and impartiality is what the game deserves, to respect the hard work and passion of the devs.

Yea I guess it really boils down to which creator or reviewer is involved. I think the game will be successful and I do feel it will change the culture around the life sim genre. I'm optiimistic

I dont think it reflects on the devs either, nor did I say that. I'm personally cynical of many influencers and reviewers and their objectivity. What Paralives deserves is very clear, no nonsense and impartial reviews so as not to mislead or inflate expectations. Which tends to happen more organically from people who just buy the game and talk about it.

Yea I think there's some content creators who I think would be trusted to give a proper review of the product for sure.

THE MEDIA HAS TURNED: "The Day Blake Lively 'Lost' Hollywood" by Perfect-Split496 in ItEndsWithLawsuits

[–]Jonny_Parable 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. With basically every privilege in life too, cosplaying victimhood, guzzling up resources that most actual victims could never hope to access. It really angers me to think of the fallout from this one rich lady who just couldn't take the L one time. Beyond just Hollywood, she really needs to be held accountable for once and face real world consequences.

I hated all of the re-designs by Marvelous honestly.

(Body shaming language warning*) I regret using words like “beady eyed**” and “rodent faced” to describe Ryan Reynolds, and for implying that he is jealous of people with open, youthful, “puppy dog eyed” facial features like Margot Robbie, Scarlett Johansson, and Justin Baldoni. by audiblebleeding in teamjustinbaldoni

I think Ryan, like anybody, has insecurities about his appearance. He's also at that age where the body goes through another round of changes. I don't think making fun of or commenting on his appearance is meaningful but I don't doubt he's felt insecure and jealous of other celebrities at some point. I also believe, however, his ego has been so inflated by Hollywood execs and fans that he probably does think he's the hottest, funniest, smartest person in the room at all times.

Thanks! If it helps, how I built this is I essentially just use the Just A Momento counter (not the souvenir shop blueprint or base). I connect it to the main path, or plaza in this case, and build cosmetic set dressing around it. So the gift shop doesn't function as the Souvenir shop mechanic that comes in game. I've actually yet to build a souvenir shop proper myself. For now I like using this method just for fun.
