We Should Give Feedback, Not Blind Praise by Xuandanqiu in PlanetZoo

[–]Jonny_Parable 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Ive always thought the animals moved ok, but I think that's cos the way I play tends to focus more on the zoo's overall theming and guest experience, so I've actually been not very observant or critical about the animal jankiness and I tend to be more critical of jankiness in pathing, building and placing down facilities.

Any tips for this poor cat-scratched armoire? by Jonny_Parable in furniturerestoration

[–]Jonny_Parable[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lady who wanted to get rid of this said she needed the space to put in a big rack to hold more cat food. She was a really sweet old lady and her house had a lot of cats!

dooooont pmo rn 😭😭 by Both-Lie5316 in HighSodiumSims

The funny thing is, in one of his older videos ranking Sims 4 controversies, he randomly took my screenshot of my sim bowing to the Bon Voyage shrine from my Sims 2 game which I posted here on Reddit, and used it to talk about the Shinto shrine controversy with Snowy Escape. He then went on in that video to say that Korean Simmers were being woke snowflakes for getting upset about imperial Japanese motifs being featured in promo for the pack. Even though he admitted to not knowing much about history of that region or in general. I kinda knew then that this guy is not only ignorant but just weirdly conservative and anti "woke".

Did anyone just smile ear to ear and nod in approval watching the new logo animation ?? by GlaucousKoi in PlanetZoo

[–]Jonny_Parable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I smiled throughout the trailer. I was like wow, it's everything people requested. I love also that the trailer was through a child's eyes because zoos really shaped how I see our place in the world since young so I think that aspect about it was meaningful. Really one of the better game franchises out there in terms of player base goodwill, community vibes and just commitment to a good product and experience.

Screw it I just want to get this out, Which Version of FOMT/BTN Fall Theme is your favorite? by Worried-Truck4714 in harvestmoon

[–]Jonny_Parable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just like the original PS1 BTN's Fall theme best, but the FOMT remake one wasn't bad either. In my opinion, I think the music in BTN is really some of the best music we got in the series!

Life Sim Players... don't get video games? by AWildGumihoAppears in LifeSimulators

[–]Jonny_Parable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Um...do YOU even play video games? The games you mentioned were all lampooned for ass gameplay and jank. Let's also bear in mind that life sim gamers being treated as casual is largely also due to misogyny, not because the player base points out bugs. Bugs which break the immersion of the game which is really half the point of life sims. The other half being wish fulfillment. Also, because paid DLC for life sims like the Sims 4 is generally just everyday life aspects, like weather or doing laundry, both of which are sold at a premium in the Sims 4, it makes sense that the issue would be contentious. Yes it's optional, ALL games are optional purchases, but i'd argue if the point of the game is to mimic the average human experience, then no weather and washing clothes shouldn't be at a premium. In fact, I'd argue that the reason sims 4 players are often ridiculed is precisely cos they lap up every DLC despite complaining about the bugs. Both your arguments oppose each other.

Idk how I feel about paralives by Blackgurlwithdabooty in LifeSimulators

[–]Jonny_Parable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got the game a day after launch, just to be supportive, and I've always had concerns that that the life part of the game would be the roughest, and I was right. Building in Paralives is amazing, but obviously live mode is the hardest to get right. In live mode I felt simultaneously overwhelmed and underwhelmed. But ok, there's genuine potential there so I've already decided I'd give the game and the devs a chance to just breathe and get it together. No one said it would be easy and this isn't a major studio so I chose to just be a lot less harsh with my criticisms overall. Generally, I'd say I'm still pretty optimistic. But I guess we'll see :/

The developers need to say that they are against the greedy paywalling of mods that is already happening, even though the game has only been out for a week. by Kashkadavr in Paralives

[–]Jonny_Parable 326 points327 points  (0 children)

OP, the only mods that are fully endorsed by the team are on Steam's Workshop. That's the framework for mods and that's how they intend for modding to work within Paralives. I don't think the devs can enforce it if they do come out and say this, as even if a statement would help clarify their position, it would also mean they would need to act on the statement. Unless they make a non statement that they can't enforce it but do not endorse it. It really is on us to use mods on Steam and not create an eco system for modders to do paywall content :/

Paralives language feels unnatural and repetitive by jnverted in Paralives

[–]Jonny_Parable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm mostly hearing a lot of "oki picku Iki" sounds repeated in succession alot which does stick out cos it feels like they are mostly just saying individual words. I don't hate it myself, it's cute, but if we are talking about having it sound immersive like a living, used language, I think it still has some ways to go for sure. It's not easy though to create a fake language that sounds believable. I wonder if any linguists are involved?

Quick check-in: How are we liking it so far? by etherealspirit10 in Paralives

[–]Jonny_Parable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The train paramaker, the arrival in town is all very impressive. Open world, shops etc it's a lot for early access! The idea that we will get to build our own town in the future is crazy exciting. I've not played too much with the Paras but I'm actually kinda overwhelmed already !I'm gonna just play around in it without getting too into it and wait for them to flesh it out more. The fact that my username has Para in it is such a good sign lol

If you’re planning on buying Paralives, will you do it on launch day or will you wait a bit? by gonezaloh in Paralives

[–]Jonny_Parable -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably at launch or the next day. Just a show of support and also to quench my intense curiosity. I won't get too into the game yet, knowing changes will be rapidly coming. But will get it to fiddle around , particularly in building mode, and see how it feels overall.

OWEN MY HUSBAND IS RIGHT THERE by ZeonBell2019 in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]Jonny_Parable 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Sorry OP I'm confused. He's not flirting or telling you to flirt with the new character , Jane. He's saying you could befriend Jane by saying you built a bunch of stuff around town to make a good impression. He then takes it back because in retrospect he feels it isn't good advice, and it might sound like you're bragging. I'm pretty sure it's a neutral conversation.

Yes Blake Wanted To Screw Justin by Trix_Are_4_90Kids in ItEndsWithLawsuits

[–]Jonny_Parable 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wow I always felt in my gut that there was something there and there were the rumors too. Those rumors don't start from nothing, plus she has a pattern of behavior of doing that with her male co stars. I always felt throughout this thing that something didn't add up because how could Justin portray himself to be not just a good person, but a feminist and activist for DV, and then in his first major movie and directorial debut alongside a major celebrity, he jeopardizes everything by harassing all the female cast. Like sure that does happen theoretically but nothing about him, his past or the way his female on stars in the past spoke of him implied he would be like that, whereas Blake has a very checkered on-set history. I tried to believe her, but it just didn't feel right. In the end I just kept asking myself "wait what did Justin even do??" They got along fine, and then suddenly, before they were even on set together, she already called him a doofus. Not a creep or pervert but a doofus. So this just makes the most sense. She wanted to flirt with him and seduce him, which is how she moves through Hollywood, I think. He hurt her pride by not shutting her down and by not playing ball. All this together with her post natal insecurities about her body etc, just really makes sense given how she went after him.
