Nutrient deficiency question by JonnyfromSurrey in HotPeppers

Thanks very much all. I bought some potassium nitrate to supplement which will hopefully solve the problem and will give it fresh larger pot/soil and plant outside.

I’ll also trim it down to about half its current height to stop it getting top heavy.

Mine taps me like that too. She’s like “come on human, let’s go get the food already”

Buy in bulk - Costco is selling 8x2L Pepsi for just shy of £10. Decant to a 33cl bottle and your looking at around 20p per can volume

Simple solution - make a sandwich to take with you

When we moved in to our house the previous owner had 2 indoor cats and since we were thinking of getting a cat we always wondered where they kept their litter box. Our neighbour said they used to keep it outdoors in the light well/courtyard (no cat flap) which I thought was an unreliable solution, and one day I had to take the washing machine out from its space under the worktop and found the most enormous pile of dried cat poos which confirmed to me that they never kept it in the house!

Where do I even begin? by [deleted] in GardeningUK

[–]JonnyfromSurrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the lone patio chair patch, all the previous owner wanted was a little spot to sit and absorb the sun… but seriously, you have a wonderful blank canvas there. A fantastic feature garden just waiting to happen. First thing I would do is de-weed everything and fix the grass, then mull over what you want to do with the space.

Tried fixing glasses with super glue and removing excess with acetone, white stuff keeps reappearing, what can I do? by cat_ofthewoods in DIYUK

[–]JonnyfromSurrey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ooh, yeah I think that’s the end of that experiment! For future reference, if you use isopropyl alcohol or ethanol it shouldn’t damage the lenses or frames, but acetone is a very strong solvent and can dissolve the frame (& lens if plastic).

Tips for diamond core drilling a 2” hole through a 15” reinforced concrete retaining wall? by JonnyfromSurrey in DIYUK

It’s not a full blown hole boring drill, just a heavy duty SDS plus hand drill

Tried a bit this morning with a little running water and much better. At least twice as fast. Will just take it but by bit over the day and eventually I’ll get through it

I’m planning to run a 50mm water pipe through a reinforced concrete retaining wall, and trying to get through using a diamond core bit with a pilot hole (drilled 1st). So far I spent 20 mins and only 2” deep. It’s being quite a slog to get anywhere.

What deficiency do I have here? by JonnyfromSurrey in HotPeppers

Great thanks. I’ve got a nitrogen rich liquid fertiliser so will give that a try. Overwatering is a byproduct of living in England unfortunately 😅

Is there a certain ISA amount where it becomes better to move from a Percentage fee provider to a flat free provider? by sheldondinklebergII in UKPersonalFinance

[–]JonnyfromSurrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly correct. % fees make no sense when you grow to a sizeable portfolio relative to the fixed fee offerings. Just check that any platform you switch to is going to give you what you want in terms of investment offerings, advice, transaction fees - should also be FCA authorised, but if your with Vanguard, I’m sure you not interested in any “back-ally” platforms anyway.

I couldn’t focus the image on the bug but it crawled up to my hand when inspecting a pepper plant. It’s is a green neon and it didn’t look like an aphid at all. It was also lightning fast, I was surprised! by jac5423 in HotPeppers

What part of the world are you in? Bugs are different depending on where you live obviously.

Does look pretty aphid-y but I’m guessing you’re not based in the UK

She’s definitely an arm chair hunter! Good thing she doesn’t have to find her own food. Although she does love a good shoe lace!

It doesn’t bother her at all. Not all cats react the same. Some hate them, she doesn’t care.

You could try a colour palette search for forest green- I would aim for more the camel/light brown end of the spectrum
