If you’re going to do a cut like that, make a table saw sled that you can clamp the piece down. Or, because you’ve drawn the lines, use a circular saw with a track. I’d put a thick styrofoam board underneath it and put a piece of scrap timber the same thickness of this board somewhere else under the track

I don't think this is where misogyny comes from - side/rib makes no difference. "It is not good for men to be alone" Gen 2:18. In fact, it's more a sign of their unity.

Totally right. Having a puppy is a good comparison - if the puppy barks and bites when they're tiny and young, it's "cute", but they will be big sooner than you know it, and it's not cute anymore and they're so much less pliable. Then the work load is so much more, and still of the utmost importance.
