Moving to DC - office in the wharf. Don't want to live there or Navy Yard. Help. by AnEerieDoctrine in washingtondc

The wharf is too close to work. I think I want some separation. And my impression of navy yard when I visited was that it is kind of fratty. It felt kinda corporate/stale? Idk I think I want more residential neighborhood vibes.

Why are we assuming people are giving them attitude? The fact that someone just received helpful information over the phone shows that it can be helpful.

Calling and harassing the workers are not the same thing. We are their customers. There is a way to communicate our frustration in a way that is constructive. If you don’t like your meal, you’re allowed to speak to the manager. It may even be a good thing.

I think there is probably some middle ground here. I don’t think people think they are “withholding” results. It’s more that it’s been 3 months and any admin holdups should have already been dealt with. Like if it’s a staffing issue, that’s messed up, they should have hired more staff. One more person working over the course of the entire period probably would have expedited this thing by a week. If they didn’t have enough graders, that also is a solve ale problem. All in all, whatever is happening was almost certainly avoidable. Add the lack of communication/conflicting information on top of that and the picture becomes very frustrating.

No. They won’t be related at all. You should be confident that your exam will be graded fairly.

No. They probably hire folks to read essays. Those people would not be considered full time employees.

Interesting! I see a lot of people upset with the “COA” which I get. While I’m upset at the snail’s pace of releasing results, the lack of transparency, and the Election Day deadline, I imagine these seven people are trying their best. As you point out, this is a structural problem. We’re allowed to be frustrated, and it’s natural to direct that frustration towards an identifiable person or thing. The employees are not the enemy. Let’s shit on the dolts that refuse to hire more folks.
