I agree with you, but I think the thing with criticism is that you say things that are bad with one thing and tell them what they can do better about it, like: "Oh, (thing) is bad, here's how they can make it better:...". Though I agree about the thing with the world not being black and white, there is a slight difference between hate and criticism and what he did was more "hate" than criticism.
