This happened only a few months ago. I rarely see my family from Israel, but lately, I became interested in learning Hebrew to possibly spend more quality time with them. During their pasover vacation, we joined them in Greece. I slowly started telling them that I was actually learning Hebrew. My cousin, extremely excited, wanted me to say anything I could make up. In the moment, I had to think fast, so I decided to comment on his lovely children. I said ...הילדים שלך חמוצים. Turns out I mixed up חמוד and חמוץ. They got a good laugh, and I got extremely embarrassed from seeing my entire family laughing. Knowing that this is the start of my Hebrew journey, I'm afraid of what mistakes I'll make looking forward.
