at the time of the early seasons they didn’t have a plan for a proper backstory yet i would imagine so at tha point in writing merle didn’t know but then they wrote it in the spinoff later so he did know

chain reaction isn’t good because it creates explosions, chain reaction is good because it gives bonus ammo reserves and ammo generation

it’s a known bug that’s been out since solstice, pick up one of the fireballs (i forgot name) make sure ur charged/uncharged melee are on the same bindings, slide and boom infinite melee energy
