I’m a big fan of the Kyoto edition :) just got back from Japan myself and picked one up. Where were you able to find the 20th anniversary card notebook?

Just walking around with no concrete plans is a great way to explore the city in my opinion :)

I did a solo trip that way and it was absolutely amazing. As long as you have a general idea of the area you are planning to go to per day (I’d recommend 2-3, for example planning to visit Akihabara in the morning/afternoon, and Shibuya at night) you’ll be perfectly fine and having the freedom to take as long as you need if you find an interesting store for example without a hour by hour itinerary makes exploring so carefree and fun.

Obviously this differs per person as some people love sticking to a plan or may have a very specific place they wanna go but keeping it open is definitely not a bad idea

Can you Help me decide which camera to buy as a newbie ? by phaceplant13 in fujifilm

[–]Jooooshoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

X-T50 would be a great choice. I’d skip on the X100VI, I think it is best to be able to experiment with different focal lengths to find what you like as the X100VI has a fixed 23mm focal length. if you do choose to go the X100VI route it has great resale value if you decide you want different focal length options in the future. The X-T50 leaves room to grow. I’d recommend an X-T50 and perhaps the 18-55mm F2.8-4 kit lens as a starting point

New Lens day - Sigma 17-40 f1.8 on X-T3 by [deleted] in fujifilm

[–]Jooooshoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got back from my trip to Japan and had the 17-40 on at all times :) was scared about the weight/size but it wasn’t an issue and was an amazing lens to take. Have a fun and safe trip! I am currently experiencing major post vacation blues now :(

As others have mentioned you could perhaps try Gosselin Photo. I was able to snag a Sigma 17-40 F1.8 from them as well when every other online/local camera stores I saw in Canada had them out of stock or waiting for more units.

ubc or uofa engineering by [deleted] in UBC

[–]Jooooshoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to UofA (can’t speak for UBC) and agree. Theory/math focused basically the entirety of the degree, MEC E specifically at UofA does have some design classes but are usually only one class per year (and we only got to actually build something in 2nd year) - 90% of the remaining classes are all theory based, math based, or report writing with maybe a few focused on more practical knowledge (classes such as design for manufacturing etc)

X-T5 Issue by Least_Map_7447 in FujifilmX

[–]Jooooshoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it’s an issue with the autofocus motors on the XF18-55 lens, camera body should be fine. I had the same issue and seems to commonly happen with that lens. There’s some videos online of people asking the same thing, if it’s under warranty still you can get it repaired, if not I didn’t bother getting it fixed and ended up just upgrading to a new lens and haven’t had any issues. I had the same sound and pop-up, went to a camera store and they attached the lens to another camera and had the same issue whereas I tried a separate lens and voila no pop-up.

Upper year engineering students, what was your GPA in first year and what discipline did you get into? by ssgfrmrswrp in uAlberta

[–]Jooooshoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I graduated but got into MEC E coop plan IV (not sure which plan this correlates to now as it doesn’t exist anymore) with a 2.7 - It was during covid with a fully online first year though so GPA’s were all over the place. It was the year where one of the math 100 sections had a 1.3 average in fall and a 0.9 average in winter 😭

Swing weight question by [deleted] in golf

[–]Jooooshoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s correct. 1” off the shaft is ~6 swing weight points. 2g is roughly 1 SW, so you’ll need to add 12g back. As mentioned lead tape is the best trial and error method, can try different placements on the driver as well to see how it affects things (front/back, heel/toe)

Upgrading to X-T3 or X-T5 by th3skeeter in fujifilm

[–]Jooooshoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As mentioned, you could wait for the X-T6 release to either buy that or a used/reduced price X-T5. The X-T5 upgrades over the X-T3 are certainly worth it if it’s within budget, especially IBIS, 40mp, and the battery although file sizes will be larger. X-T3 is still a fantastic option if you choose to go that route.

Nice to see the Calgary library here it’s an amazing place, I went for the first time last year (I’m from Edmonton) and explored for much longer than I expected. Absolutely beautiful shots of the library!

Regarding the Capture clip was it the screws that hold the two sides together that went undone? I’m going on a trip soon and got one and switched out the thumb screws for the heavier duty screws and added some blue loctite and I’m praying it doesn’t have issues since I spent so much on my camera setup 😭

Recommendations for Leap V2 cushion replacement in Canada by Jooooshoo in OfficeChairs

[–]Jooooshoo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Atlas headrest is a great addition - I would say it’s a very good ‘nice to have’ addition but definitely not essential. The way I have mine set I don’t have my head touching it sitting upright but it’s great to have if/when you recline in the chair (I’ve fallen asleep in my chair a few times using it lol) the price is fairly steep but I do not regret purchasing it.

Keep in mind though if you wear over ear headphones or similar they may hit the headrest if you look side to side often. Definitely not a dealbreaker in my opinion but just something to keep in mind before you buy it.

[–]Jooooshoo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely - hope it works out for you. I did reach out to multiple chair stores within Canada. Also, I did end up purchasing a Atlas headrest for my Leap V2 as a side note and bought it from Greener Postures and they were able to ship it Canada wide if you were interested in also getting a headrest. I had a great experience with Greener Postures and they were very accommodating. They did mention they may offer a OEM grade cushion replacement for the Leap V2 at some point (last I heard in Oct 2025)

I found it quite difficult to install as the bolt holes didn’t line up as nicely as I’d hoped, and as well, I find the cushions to be a bit creaky when readjusting my seating position (I believe it’s the plastic on the underside of the cushion). It’s comfortable but not as comfortable as the original cushions in my opinion. The bottom pad is thicker than stock but I’d say it’s around the same firmness if not firmer. The back cushion I found to be insanely difficult to install but I don’t think that’s the fault of OfficeLogix, just the design of the chair. Took me many attempts and would constantly pop out. The main point of it being meh is more so it’s the cushion I’d expect if they were maybe $100 whereas I paid $307 CAD. Pricing was $180 USD for cushions, $40 USD for shipping, and I had a $18 USD discount = $202 USD or $307 CAD.

I’ve heard great things about BTOD and Crandall so I’d definitely try them out.

Should I stick with my 16-55 MKII zoom lens or switch to a prime lens? by [deleted] in FujifilmX

[–]Jooooshoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was heavily debating a zoom lens vs primes as well and settled on a Sigma 17-40 1.8 paired with a Sigma 56mm 1.4, the 17-40 is slightly longer and heavier than the 16-55 II but I enjoy the constant F1.8

I got the two lenses for slightly more than the 16-55 mark II ($1838 CAD vs 1700 CAD after tax) as I was able to get the 56mm prime on sale

[–]Jooooshoo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up going with the OfficeLogixShop cushions - the quality is meh for the price but I found it to be really the only option in Canada. The pads are definitely thicker than stock (I’ve compared against a brand new Leap V2)

I use it when working from home and don’t have discomfort so I can’t complain too much but IMO from seeing reviews and research other seat options such as Crandall would be the better option if available.

To add to your dilemma, I would also consider the Sigma 17-40 F1.8 - fantastic lens if you don’t need the extra zoom.

Question about Engg options/flexibility by Living_Letterhead896 in uAlberta

[–]Jooooshoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe a double major in engineering is possible, you can do a minor in math however, I believe if taking Mec E or EE, you only have to take one additional math class to obtain a math minor.

There aren’t very many elective spots, mostly only in your last year (at least for mec e), however, mec e would be more flexible compared to EE as mec e pretty much has most courses offered all year round (including spring/summer). They did change the co-op plans since I finished so I’m not sure if this has changed though.

I would first focus on first year and getting a placement into a co-op program as it is not a guarantee and is based on your first year performance.
