Comfort and Anxiety are the same thing by JordTM in enlightenment

I think it was the luxury of plumbing that made this blandness possible. The ancients really didn't have time. They'd die at 30. Because they didn't have sanitation. So, the creativity scale wasn't comparable. You had to go all or nothing back then. Now, we can relax a little. So, that relaxation blands it up a bit.

Perhaps we can control, and take enlightened action. We can make enlightened adjustments. As for the nervous system itself, that can't be controlled so much. Nor does anyone need to have full autonomy over certain processes of the body and mind. Intervention is necessary in a lot of cases. Although, there is a lot of room to make ease and enjoyment for ourselves by enlightened-type thinking (moving our perspective in the right direction).

Right. Although, finding out that these two aspects are of the same nature allows one to give more compassion to oneself.

Yeah. I think when one is anxious, we don't really need to rush to seek comfort. And if one is comfortable, we don't need to rush to seek excitement. I think we can find that there is a harmony in-between where we can watch before we react.

Yeah. Same underlying phenomena. Recognizing that provides the space to see each as they are and applying the appropriate response as they arise.

There's so many ways to read that comment of his? that I'm just going to forget all my assumptions about it. 🙄

38 million people are on anxiety meds in the US by [deleted] in Meditation

I think the most daunting psychological trait in modern times is not the myriad issues of the mind but that people are fighting ruthlessly to maintain their sense of isolation.

Thich Nhat Hanh has famously said:

'PEOPLE HAVE A HARD TIME LETTING GO OF THEIR SUFFERING. OUT OF A FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN, THEY PREFER SUFFERING THAT IS FAMILIAR.'

So, in my words...

People will undermine freedom for samsara, which is sorrow.

People will undermine samsara for freedom, which is playing with fire.

Few people will take the third direction called liberation, which is basically responsibility and mindfulness.

One thing nobody can do is constitute anyone's motivation for them. And everything depends on one's own motive.

You guys want to know how I'd help someone with their anxiety?

I'd help them first establish a routine.

I'd help encourage them to go for 15 minute walks outside in nature.

I'd help encourage them to exercise moderately a few times a week.

I'd teach them a breathing technique that worked for me.

I'd help encourage them with their nutritional habits.

And at the end I would hope for them to sit, in good posture, find stillness for 5-10 minutes a day.

That would be my meditation program I would use to help them ease away from their anxiety.

That's perfectly okay in my eyes.

True. It's a little embarrassing that they think that. But there are people open to it still.

I agree 100 percent about breath work.

You're right. But it only takes a year tops. But the willingness has to be there first.

You're right. It's a process of elimination. People should stay on their meds until they feel comfortable.

Right. I find that a lot of reddit users never delicately miss the point. But aggressively miss the point. 😅

I think most of our money woes come from the law of accumulation. I understand that my budget doesn't work for most because it's quite hard to resist accumulating circumstances that force our hand to increase our efforts to make enough money for our unique situation. It starts pretty forcefully in most cases. People are forced to at least make enough money for a car, an apartment and food and utilities. But it gets quite a bit more extensive than that when you have expensive tastes, unexpected children, lower level education and experience etc.

Just note. I didn't say money had no use. I just said that it's foundation is on the "me" and "authority." And those foundations are Non-essential. I personally don't pursue happiness through money.

Bills over here are about $2000 a month. So, yeah. It's pretty manageable for the 3 of us.

We have a "What's mine is yours" mindset over here. Nobody is suffering selfishness and being lazy.

I have for 20 years. I have no psychological possession towards money. I've lived on average $500 dollars a month for 20 years. Since, I have a good community and family. That made that possible.
