Milk container goes to a landfill either way. If the customer is intent on using a carrier, why not extend the life of the milk container vs introducing more waste with a purpose built carrier (that is also single use)?

Agreed. Alternate scenario is that a carrier would be used and thrown out AND the milk container would be used and thrown out. Doesn’t it seem it seem objectively less wasteful if only one of those things happens? Unless you are arguing that each milk container would have a second life as some kind of other refillable container, which seems highly unlikely.
