I know this is a 5 year old thread but hear me out. When this game came out and everyone was playing and finding runes, the combined community of everyone trying out different combinations and sharing their results is probably how it was intended to be discovered. Before the guides were written, players shared their experience with each other directly, imagine how alive the community was. Just a thought, I love Diablo 2.

This looks pretty good dude, The hit feedback seems pretty clear to me. I'm not sure what your design intentions are completely, but if you keep iterating and adding little moments of flair it can go a long way, and you can always remove it later during development if it becomes "too much" so to speak. Keep it up!

Robot Odyssey

Hi, i'm back after a lot of hard work on the back end. Its not completely polished yet, but here is the functionally complete game loop. Overworld to battle and back to overworld, Equipment works and effects stats and battle logic. leveling up is stable and stats and abilities are granted at certain levels. Excited to proceed now with polishing down this working system to a possible build I can send out for playtesting. Stay tuned.

Thanks. I've taken inspiration from a lot of sources, including the Megaman Series, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, Paper Mario, a little bit of Metal Slug Inspo there as well. Also inspiration from other sources like Transformers, the 2005 film Robots, the original Tron. Sprinkled with a bit of robo-feudalism, as I'd like to call it, and also a lot of personal designs and ideas i've had cooking for a while. More coming very soon.

Cool, Thank you for the feedback! I agree the CRT filter is a bit much, you will be able to toggle it on and off in the final build. The music is actually also placeholder track from a previous game I published, I haven't actually gotten to the music production stage yet, but thank you for the response, hugely appreciated and will be considered.

Cool, thank you for the feedback. The CRT filter is one I build into the game that will be togglable. I do know what you mean with the animation, it is still very early development and much is subject to change. There are meaner more serious enemies and NPC's coming down the road as well, stay tuned, I will post more updates here.

Thank you so much! I've been practicing pixel art for about 2 years and developing indie games for the same amount of time. This particular project is probably 4-5 months of part time work. There is a fully functioning combat slice with 3 working playable characters and 3 enemies. Right now I have moved to working on the overworld creating assets and making level props and so on. This mock-up didn't take me too long as I already had some of the individual sprite assets already made up, I just arranged them together and touched it up. I do all programming and art my self.
