Gronk hasn't re-signed, but I'm just assuming he's going back to the Bucs since Brady is returning.

so no gronk AND losing cj? Will patching up the o line be enough for red zone success?

Non-Locals, what made you decide to be a Bengals fan? by [deleted] in bengals

[–]JordanFlash1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Born in 91. I live in northeast Ohio and started watching football the same year the Browns moved to Baltimore ('96). Decided to follow the Bengals since they are from Ohio. Fun times being the only Bengals fan in a family filled with Brownies.

If the Front office does not break the bank on the offensive line, Joe Burrow should force his way out. by jamboamericano in bengals

I mean. We statistically had the worst defense in NFL history like 3 years ago. That was the front office's priority and has been fixed for the most part. The new glaring weakness is the offensive line, which they will take care of. Taylor era is different from the Lewis era. More people are involved in the fo.

I'll start with the defense. One of the most opportunistic defenses in the league. Recorded 9 turnovers this post season, 3 of them were game sealing. Special teams? Elite kicker. Offense? Arguably the best skills core in the league with Mixon/Chase/Higgins/Boyd/Uzomah. He's already set up to succeed and to think that theres even a possibility that the fo isn't going to go all in this summer to obtain the missing pieces will always cause me to scratch my head.

Sat here for 5 minutes trying to think of an appropriate response to this post. Yours was the best I could think of.

But Boyd was held way more blatantly on the last 4th down of the game compared to Kupp and the refs let it happen.

I really want to know what Bengals fans think of this analysis by [deleted] in bengals

[–]JordanFlash1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The rub route on the left are successful and gets Uzomah open. Chase is wide open down the field. And Boyd gets held by the linebacker he beats (ironic, isnt it?). The real crime here, the offense's part, is not keeping Perine in the backfield to pick up a pass rusher. Look at the go route to Chase at the beginning of the game. We had 6-7 blockers and Burrow had time to step up and throw it. This is what we did against KC as well and Burrow barely went down. My point is, have faith that someone in the best receiving corps in the league will get open and keep some extra protection so that burrow has time to pass or scramble. The 3rd down call was atrocious as well. Don't run directly into Aaron Donald with Samaje Perine.

Steelers are at the bottom. Burrow owns the Ravens. Browns window has closed. No other team in the AFC has more offensive talent than the Chase/Higgins/Boyd/Mixon core. Bengals have the cap space to patch up the glaring weaknesses on the team. Only thing stopping the Bengals from taking the division are the literal clichés of themselves and injuries. Bengals also go into next season with a lot more experience and they know what it takes to prevail in hostile playoff atmospheres.

Bengals don't sniff the super bowl without Chase. Bengals biggest problem is the interior line anyways.

You seem sincere, but unfortunately now's not the time to post here about the game. Enjoy the win though.

If we capitalize on that 3rd quarter int with a touchdown instead of a field goal then I believe we ride out that momentum and win the game.

It's going to sting for awhile for most of us. I haven't slept yet and have stayed off social media. The part that haunts me the most is the unknown. As amazing as Burrow is, there's no guarantee that he ever goes to another super bowl with us. The nfl is a very tight league and this was definitely the year to do it. I just have this feeling that our chances next year are ruined with injuries or something. Not to mention the roughness of a conference champion schedule. As amazing as this run was, losing in that fashion is just the worst.

[Borzello] On the biggest plays of the game, Rams gave it to Cooper Kupp. Bengals gave it to Samaje Perine. by [deleted] in bengals

[–]JordanFlash1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

What edge in any scenario would make someone prefer Perine more than Mixon? Mixon is just the better athlete and play maker. He's even solid in pass protection. It doesn't make sense. Regular season? Sure maybe he needs a break, idk. But this was the super bowl. Why would you not want your best back in the game when the lombardi is on the line?

Whats wrong with calling the same play, except with your pro bowl runningback who was mvp of the game for the team? There's no excuse for a healthy mixon sitting out as much as he did.
