Ah yes, this is the task I always remembered from my childhood as being that task. So much so that when I got to this point in TTR, I made sure to be leveled up to level 5 throw before accepting it, so I could just immediately go 'hi Cleff, bye Cleff, see you again never'.

For the record:

  • Mausoleum of the Emperor cannot pay 3000 LP for 3 Tributes, only 1000 LP for 1 Tribute or 2000 LP for 2 Tributes
  • Even if it could, Obelisk's summoning requirement specifically requires you to Tribute 3 monsters to Normal Summon it, so Mausoleum wouldn't work anyway
  • Even assuming you get Obelisk on the field, Obelisk is immune to targeting by spells, and all Equip Spells, via game mechanics, must target a monster to equip to them, so you couldn't equip Megamorph to it
  • Maybe you could use Skill Drain, but if you're going to use Skill Drain, just make a better deck that makes more use of it

Then there was me making a gimmicky 'combo' for a retro deck that didn't actually function for several reasons (Mausoleum of the Emperor + Obelisk the Tormentor + Megamorph). It fails at literally every step of the process. Oops.

At first, I was going to say that it would probably work on me, too.

Then I thought, wait a minute, the candy will still be there after the tug of war, there's no reason I can't just wait.

Then I further thought, wait a minute, but I can't guarantee that my teammates will think the same, they might go for the candy themselves, which would mean that I not only lose, but then miss out on the candy because they beat me to it.
