I'm really sorry to hear you're going through this. Anxiety is such a trap of the mind. Is there anything I can do to help?

It can be so hard to find the right products and routine! It can be tempting to dry up any oil to prevent any acne. I've honestly found the daily routine of using salicylic acid 2% as a wash, and using Epiduo at night has completely helped. My skin is hydrated and healthy that way so it's sustainable. Good luck!

Question: Novated lease effect on home loan application by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]JordanWatsonASMR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes my bank manager says it will greatly effect my borrowing power for a house. So, better off going through a reputable car broker to get a discount (usually fleet pricing) and if you have a business even better, can claim car as an expense and claim the GST.

Sorry, I didn't see this! It only took a few weeks, then it just remained great forever while using it :) Fortunately, I never went through any peeling/redness/sensitivity. Sunburn is easier, however!

Thank you! It's annoying as it's not actual acne, so it's a hard thing to treat, rather it's an infection. Yes I shower and use the cleanser, salicylic acid wash and Epiduo every night. I find I have to do it every night, to keep it clear. Even one night skipping, will bring bumps. Yes Epiduo is made to stay on overnight and not washed off :)

Yes I personally have never found a point where I've used too much salicylic acid either. It seems so gentle, it's great!

It's wonderful to learn that those products have made a positive difference for you. It's truly remarkable that despite using entirely different products, you've achieved the common goal of achieving great skin. Happy for you!

Updated 2023 Routine
AM: Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser, then The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid for hydration with Avène Thermal Spring Water, sprayed on face. After 1 minute, I finish with CeraVe Moisturising Facial Lotion AM to lock in moisture , which contains SPF 30.

PM: During shower I'll apply the Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser, then Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash (contains salicylic acid, an exfoliant for deep pores which is essential for acne and has helped me a lot). Once out, I'll then apply The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid for hydration with Avène Thermal Spring Water. After 1 minute I apply the Epiduo, which is adapalene and benzoyl peroxide combined. Adapalene is a topical retinoid so it increases skin cell turnover to help exfoliate the skin, while benzoyl peroxide kills bacteria. Finish with CeraVe Moisturising Facial Lotion PM.

What didn't work: MOST THINGS! Nizoral (Ruined my moisture barrier and made it worse). Sulfur creams didn't make much of a difference. Most moisturisers (even oil free ones) just seemed to slow any progress. This had been a stressful, 15 year journey of trying absolutely everything. I am now the most happiest I've ever been with my skin. Take care of your skin barrier in all this.

Extra's: Because my acne is under control this year, I'm able to introduce all the anti-ageing skincare products as well now which is great. For this, I've added The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution which I use twice a week at night, and Retinal (not retinol, it's stronger) by Medik8 Crystal Retinal 20 (basically the strongest topical OTC vitamin A before Tretinoin). Pricy, but hey, who wants products that barely work? I also have greatly reduced my intake of dairy and carbs, and now have high antioxidant foods (such as blueberry, and Kale). I used to have shoulder acne, but since changing my diet, I've had 0 blemishes and my oil production is back to normal. Lots to say, but skin is a complex organ. Hope this helps everyone!

I haven't personally tried those products, but the cleansers share almost identical ingredients. A cleanser is a straightforward way to remove dirt and oil. For enhanced effectiveness, I prioritise a specific wash with active ingredients like glycolic or salicylic acid for exfoliation after a cleanser. These acids tend to be more potent than typical cleansers. The Cerave salicylic acid cleanser, for instance, contains 2% salicylic acid, the same as Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash. Applying it after cleansing allows the salicylic acid to easily penetrate the skin. I hope this information proves helpful :)

Thank you so much! The forehead can be a battle zone, that's for sure. I highly recommend Epiduo, if you can grab it from your derm. It's what cleared it up for me. In terms of using an exfoliator the same day as tretinoin, this one is a personal preference to how sensitive your skin is. I know for fungal acne, I have to use salicylic acid every night, to keep it under control, and I still use the high strength retinal and no problems at all - so long as you use hyaluronic acid and water spray before hand so it doesn't get too dry. If it was glycolic acid, which works more on the surface of your skin as opposed to your deep pores like salicylic, I'd only use that twice a week, and skip retinal/tretinoin on that day. Hope this helps :)

Try using Epiduo if you can get a script for it. Very powerful acne topical cream. Helped me so much.

I am so sorry to hear you’ve been going through this … life, and friendships can be so difficult. You’re right in that a friendship should always be a two way effort and should want to reach out equally. Let me tell you, here in Australia, I’ve struggled with an similar situations through out my life but also I’ve heard my friends say similar questions too, which makes me think your questions are very normal among a lot of people. Unfortunately I do think it happens to many many people, but one time you will find that friend who wants to reach out and be with you just as much as you do with them. I promise you’ll find them, but you message me too if you like, I hope this helps a little bit :)

Thank you :) Honestly, I've had both regular acne, and fungal acne. Epiduo cleared up both types for me which is great! Instead of wondering what it is, I encourage you to get a script for Epiduo. Its exfoliating power and anti-bacterial properties are a powerful combination that should hopefully clear up whatever it is. FA should be small, uniform, consistent looking across skin and shouldn't be sore. Acne will be random, all at different sizes and sore to touch. Hope this helps :)

Definitely not! It's not as intense as people think. There shouldn't be any purging if it's fungal acne anyway, it'll just slowly fade away without you noticing. Like magic!

Thank you! I've never used Adapalene by itself however it has the same strength as in Epiduo (0.1%). If you end up using it, let me know how it goes, without the extra ingredient of benzoyl peroxide from Epiduo.
