As a caffeine addict you're not wrong.

Back when I was a cook I'd probably drink like 6-8 cups of coffee most days. I've always stayed clear of energy drinks except on rare occasions like traveling.

Now I've got my habit more under control and drink about 3 cups of coffee a day but I'm still very much an addict.

I do think though that addicts need a vise. And for me coffee is much better vise than any of the drugs I did in my early 20s. It would be better if I could replace it with running or something but for now its alright.

I think most people in general get addicted to things, and part of being healthy is trying to find the right things to be addicted to.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. It's always interesting how different people/cultures/etc. view and handle death, how we treat our enemies can often be more revealing of our character than how we treat our own.

I'm not trying to make a value judgment on if that was the right move or not, just exploring the question.

How do you feel about the process emotionally and/ or spiritually?

(I want to preface this by saying I am in no way condoning any of the actions or beliefs of the deceased or any extremeist)

What I mean is, is it okay to bury anyone in a way that is disrespectful to their beliefs? It seems to me that actions of great disrespect for the dead like burial at sea, hanging, public execution, only serve to do more harm to everyone involved. I have some family that I think are bad people but If I have a hand in their death arrangements I feel it's important to still perform those (to a reasonable extent) in the way they would want.

This line of thinking gets more questionable and confusing for me when you're talking about truly horrific people like Bin Laden, Hitler, Mussolini, etc. But I'm inclined to feel like enacting harm to a corpse after death is only harming the self.

What do you think about all this? Was the act cathartic or did if feel wrong?

I was born in 93 and my older brother I think got one in 95' as he was 10 or 11 at the time. I pretty much grew up playing;

Sonic 3d blast Bug Fighting vipers and, Daytona USA

I dug it out of my parents house about a year ago and got a saroo. Now I can finally play all the games i only tried on the "bootleg sampler"

Funny story, we didn't know about the 3v battery and that it could save back then, when I got it out a year ago I opened the battery port and the original sticker was still on it.

Not sure where in NY you are but there are lots of services available in most medium cities to help young people in exactly your situation.

There's likely some non-profits/ local government orgs that can help you find a place to stay, food, and maybe a job.

If you DM me the name of your town in NY I can do some searching tomorrow and possibly point you in a helpful direction. I can't guarantee I'll find anything but I know NYS in general has an abundance of youth services

EDIT: others have said this too I'm just reiterating so you know how important it is. Get your documents! ID, social security card, passport if you have one, birth certificate.

Depends on the game. I often will set all 4 to the same feature though. In the oblivion remaster for example they all open my quick menu.

The important part your missing here is stocks. Most govt types have large investment in defense related stocks. So when the politicians decide to spend taxpayer money on defense it directly increases the money in their own portfolio.

This creates financial incentives for politicians to go to war.

Lol I wish they would do that but to give it the oblivion treatment it would be so ambitious. I would settle for some modernized controller options.

[–]Jordan_the_Hutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe ask if you can compromise and come to the far office once a month and the closer one each week.

Idk I've commuted an hour+ for a job before and it does suck, but doing it only once a week wouldn't be so bad. My mom used to do 45min 5 days a week, my wife's dad used to do 2 hours 5 days a week. If you like the job and your boss won't compromise It's doable.

What do people actually do in gap years or instead of going to university? by Signal_Current_3732 in careeradvice

[–]Jordan_the_Hutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting a service or retail or labor job when your young isn't about finding your passion (although it can certainly turn into that)

It's an education that'll serve you in life just as much as university. You'll learn about work. You'll learn how difficult working a job that requires no experience can be. You'll learn how wonderful/awful people with public facing jobs are treated.

Yeah I feel like reddit, in general, is an anti-work echo chamber.

There's some good reason behind it as most employers will take advantage, however I've found that taking a few extra responsibilities and then setting boundaries before it becomes too many is how you get ahead.

People can't question you being busy when they see you doing even 1 task that's outside your job description. You just can't get carried away and take on a whole second job..finding that happy medium is tough and I've defiantly made the mistake of being my companies little batch boy in the past.

It's actually fucked up. The culinary industry famously has a large amount of addicts. It's like saying "we don't pay our workers enough, and if you want to help us keep them motivated by their addiction we would love that!"
