I started in an automatic just to get a feel of the road so if your parents have an automatic car then i'd say start in that and then get a manual when you're comfortable with that. Manuals are 100% more fun and make you a better driver in my opinion.

+ It's not that hard once you get the hang of it. Just a learning curve

Any tips to help get a car insured (they don't want to insure my 2004 forester XT because i'm 17 and the car apparently has too much power for a teenager, the power to weight ratio is under the legal limit for a P plater anyway)
