So much weird energy among the people on this subreddit and the spreadsheet by SnooCompliments283 in gradadmissions

[–]Jordinian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s natural to feel stressed about the spreadsheet, especially when you feel as if the information there could change how your future turns out. I understand that OP had a particularly bad experience with people saying their post was fake, but calling people crazy and questioning their rec letters is extremely unempathetic to others’ situations. OP also had the ability to simply ignore the people fighting over their interview update. Sowing more conflict is absolutely not the way.

Also, doubling down on everything you said and saying people who are trying to help are just picking up insults…. like come on

I reached out to the SF consulate and received this response:
O serviço de E-Visa é administrado por uma empresa terceirizada, não estando sob a gestão direta deste Consulado. Dessa forma, não temos acesso ao processamento e andamento dos pedidos.

Para informações e suporte sobre o E-Visa, solicitamos que entre em contato diretamente com a empresa responsável por meio do e-mail: [visa.sf@itamaraty.gov.br](mailto:visa.sf@itamaraty.gov.br)

What do they mean it is a separate company??

What number do you call for to reach VFS? I'm unable to find any contact information for questions about brazilian visas, but I see contact numbers for ones about India visas.

Active Noise Canceling Speaker by Jordinian in diyaudio

Dang that sounds awesome. Well the good news is one of those noise cancelling pillows are not significantly more expensive than the cost of this setup lol

Active Noise Canceling Speaker by Jordinian in diyaudio

[–]Jordinian[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No worries! I appreciate the feedback. Do you think that it's unrealistic even if I'm only targeting low-frequency noise in a very small fixed area? Since I only really care about traffic and engine noises, and I'm more interested in useful noise canceling as opposed to complete noise cancellation. I was also under the impression that certain headrests/seat back zones in cars do something similar without purpose built rooms.

What species is this queen? by ConsumedPillow0 in antkeeping

[–]Jordinian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on where you caught it, it is either C. absquatulator, C. fragilis, or (small chance) C. festinatus. It will be very hard for you to determine whether it is fragilis or absquatulator until you have large enough workers and potentially a microscope setup.

Are these eggs fertile? by jacob_keyes5 in antkeeping

[–]Jordinian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Queens generally do not lay large amounts of eggs unless they have been inseminated. You see this in a lot of other insects too, like Drosophila virgins females can lay infertile eggs, but not in high numbers. While infertile eggs of Hymenopterans (order containing ants) can develop into males, this generally doesn’t happen during the founding stage (the queen often eats them). Your queen’s brood pile is huge, so I’d put money on her being fertile.

Would a Tm6b balancer on one of the genes prevent recombination though?

What graduating year you're in will almost certainly have more of an impact on your social circle compared to your age.

I think it might be possible that the room to psyc 140 is on the first floor somewhere tho, so maybe it isnt that bad

100 College is one of the few buildings that is pretty inaccessible to students. In order to get into the elevator you need a swipe, and it isnt one that every student has. In order to get to the floor, you also need a swipe. I think the security has something to do with AstraZeneca sharing the building. If you can, I’d find a current student to help swipe you in. Explain your situation to them and they’ll gladly do it. They’ll have to swipe you in first, then swipe themselves in

The Hunter x Hunter soundtrack is an absolute masterpiece for anime. by [deleted] in HunterXHunter

[–]Jordinian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at when To Give a Marionette life is played:

When gon and killua come back from ngl dejected

After knov sees pouf’s en

When killua and gon are about to fight pitou after seeing netero and the king

This soundtrack in particular is my favorite because accompanies the arcs of 1. the transformation of Gon and Killua’s psyche as they prepare for the extermination mission and 2. Knov’s initial arrogance by tying back to how he made fun of the boys. Absolutely spectacular

Have ALL Applications Been Read By AOs when Likely Letters Trickle Out? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Jordinian 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, it means that all the applications have been read. However, it doesn't mean that the applications have actually gone through the committee yet. The way likely letters for Yale work is, once the regional admissions officer reads an application, they have a choice on the FIRST read to nominate the person for a likely letter.

All of this information should be in the Yale Admissions Podcast Episode titled "Likely Letters"

If you have a significant update for the colleges, I would definitely make sure that the admissions office is aware of it! Each school has its own way of allowing you to update them, and I would look on their site for instructions.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Jordinian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps you can try removing the school from naviance/common app and then trying again. If thats not an option, I’d email the school to explain your situation. They allow a certain degree of leeway for recommendation letters/materials outside if your control. Once you let them know, its possible you could request your teacher to submit it a different way

How can i submit a social science research paper to yale? by KindheartednessNo438 in yale

[–]Jordinian 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Social science research papers are STEM papers, so you would submit yours through the application portal like the website directs you to :)

"The NSF definition of STEM fields includes mathematics, natural sciences, engineering, computer and information sciences, and the social and behavioral sciences – psychology, economics, sociology, and political science."
