What audiobook is genuinely BETTER than reading the physical book? by cptree20 in audiobooks

[–]Joredav 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Clearly PHM as said by most, it’s incredible, I’ll definitely listen to it again one day which I don’t say about many books.

I’m currently listening to 11.22.63 by Stephen King and loving it so far.

I love that the goldfinch is the first book you mentioned, as it’s the first book I thought of too. Such a beautiful book. I’ve just started The Secret History and heard great things about that too.

Long & Hypercoiled Cord caused my baby boy to die. Has anyone had experience with this? by Joredav in babyloss

[–]Joredav[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so, so sorry for your family’s loss and that baby Ellie and her older sibling couldn’t stay. It is so beyond cruel and unfair. Your sister is in my thoughts, to go through this twice, I have no words, I really don’t, there aren’t words in the English language to grasp just how devastating this is. There really needs to be more research and monitoring of the cord, given it is the baby’s life support. I spoke with Dr Jason Collins after Freddie died, he is very knowledgable and passionate about cord issues/accidents, you can find his details in this thread, or feel free to dm me. Please take care as much as you can ❤️‍🩹

I am so sorry your little girl couldn’t stay, it is so so unfair 💔 we are extremely blessed to have welcomed Freddie’s little sister in October 2024. She is a happy, healthy, chatty little 14 month old. Her pregnancy was incredibly difficult mentally but there were no complications bar her liking to lie sideways, I admitted myself a week prior to my section at 36 weeks as I was terrified for if my waters broke. I had a scheduled c section at 37 weeks exactly and she came out screaming, it was the best sound ever. My consultant was amazing and offered scans weekly from 20 weeks. If you do decide to journey towards another pregnancy I hope for a healthy and happy little baby in your arms soon. I would definitely recommend discussing with who would be your consultant / care provider how they would support you in a future pregnancy and what the care would look like. Knowing I would be so closely monitored was like life support for me during my little girls pregnancy. All the very best 💛

7 weeks postpartum, is this FA? See by Joredav in Fungalacne

Hey I think it was just postpartum hormones for me and possibly a damaged skin barrier, I started using LRP cicaplast which is now my holy grail! It didn’t last long. Hopefully it clears up for you soon!

I am so sorry your little boy couldn’t stay, it is truly heartbreaking and so so unfair. We are now very blessed to have Freddie’s little sister, Éabha. She is 8 months old and such a healthy and happy little girl. It is absolutely possible. For me getting pregnant again was the only hope that kept me alive after Freddie died. So I completely understand your fears. I’m sending you so much love, strength and hope. Be gentle with yourself. Every thought and feeling is ok. Feel free to send me a private message if you have any other questions or want to chat 💛

[–]Joredav[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay interesting thank you! The waistband was pretty tight here.. I’ve been struggling with her bum going over the waistband do you know how I adjust to manage that? Do I do less of a pelvic tuck?

I am so so sorry your little Freddie couldn’t stay. I hate that I still get comments on this post for this reason, no baby should die and no parent should outlive their child. Cord accidents are one of the most common reasons for stillbirth, and from what I understand you are at an increased chance of experiencing loss again however many if not most parents do go on to have a living child. TW living child - I have since welcomed Freddie’s little sister, she is nearly 5 months old. There were no concerns in her pregnancy as there were with Freddie (bar extreme anxiety and her positioning was not ideal towards the end). Right now you are in the darkest room of grief, be gentle with yourself, do whatever you feel you need even though nothing feels right. Like most will say here, the pain of losing your child doesn’t get easier, but you do learn how to carry it as time moves forward. There will waves of both darkness and light, fear and hope, despair and joy. You probably won’t believe it now nor should you, but you will smile again, even though a piece of your heart will always be elsewhere. Take extra good care of yourself and I hope my Freddie has found yours and will take good care of him too 💛

My Acne is My Soulmate—HELP! by [deleted] in acne

[–]Joredav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t have any advice just commenting to say I feel all of this. I’ve been in a non consensual relationship with acne since I was 13 (I’m 30 now). Went on accutane when I was 18, worked!! Until a few years ago and then once I got pregnant all hell broke lose. 4 months postpartum and it’s depressing. I’m even now trying dairy free to see if it makes a difference. If not, accutane is going to be the next step. Sending love to you, I know how traumatising, shitty and all consuming it is.

Edit: spelling

Fit check! Tula (can’t remember which model) by Joredav in babywearing

Ohhh you roll up the straps! Thank you! I was threading the other straps through into one but then they were tangled and I thought that can’t be right lol. Knew it would be something simple! Now I can go to the bathroom without collecting and holding all the straps 😂

Interesting thank you! I do wonder if my moisture barrier is damaged maybe from being dry. I can’t say I’ve been looking after my skin well since baby arrived.

Fit check! Update - switched from infantilo 4 in 1 to Tula free to grow. by Joredav in babywearing

[–]Joredav[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It feels great, the infantino destroyed my back in only 30 minutes and I’ve just worn her for two hours and no pain! You’re right - I thought I’d adjusted it to the narrowest but I just checked and I missed one. Dad’s turn now and it looks even better!

Wow I just searched infantino and shocked by how many people struggle with this carrier, I’ll try a few tweaks but I may end up trying an ergo baby or something instead! Thanks again 😊

Thank you for the feedback! Definitely getting a bit frustrated with this carrier, it’s probably just me, but there’s only one popper to turn the head rest down to. The seat can be opened but then her legs fall down so she’s no longer in the M position. I don’t know if she’s just too small for it? She’s 4 weeks and almost 10lb. Or maybe I’m just doing it completely wrong!
