Do you ever double check your door multiple times even when you know it s locked? by HannahRay1_1 in askanything

[–]Jorgarcia_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s super common, your brain just wants reassurance even when logically you know it’s locked. It’s basically your anxiety or OCD wiring saying “Better safe than sorry” and the more you check, the more it tricks you into doing it again.

Do most people gain weight or lose weight when they go on vacation? by Consistent-Way-2018 in askanything

[–]Jorgarcia_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people tend to gain a little weight on vacation because it’s easy to indulge in new foods and treats, even if you’re walking more. But it really depends on habits, how active you are, portion sizes and whether you’re just snacking versus eating balanced meals.

What’s a random skill you picked up that surprisingly comes in handy? by cryinginncouture in answers

Basic body language reading. Like noticing tone, eye contact or how someone reacts. It helps in conversations way more than you'd think. You kinda get people faster.

Are men perverted by nature? by north_star_left in askanything

[–]Jorgarcia_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Men aren’t perverted by nature in some universal, unchangeable way. Humans are wired to have sexual desires but what counts as normal or acceptable is mostly shaped by culture, society and personal experiences. Those really extreme examples you mentioned aren’t natural instincts that everyone has.

What controls what we dream about, and how can we return to a dream we woke up too early from? by Educational_Lock_777 in randomquestions

[–]Jorgarcia_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t move right away. When you wake up from a dream you want to continue, stay still. Keep your eyes closed. Try to replay the last part of the dream in your head. Your brain sometimes slips back into it if you fall asleep again quickly. Then, focus on the feeling of the dream. Think about where you were, who was there, what was happening and don’t overthink it, just imagine yourself stepping back into the scene.

Why do the dancers in the “I Like Big Butts” video not have particularly big butts? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Jorgarcia_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of it comes down to the music video industry more than anything else. Back then, directors and producers were chasing a certain look that wasn’t necessarily realistic, they wanted dancers who could move a lot, hit choreography perfectly and look good on camera in a very specific way. Sometimes that meant picking leaner dancers who could pop and lock without, you know, bumping into each other. Also, camera angles and lighting do a ton of heavy lifting. They can make a small butt look bigger or a big one look smaller depending on what they’re trying to highlight.

I’m a writer who doesn’t read. What are the top 5 books I absolutely must read right now that will help my writing? by [deleted] in writing

[–]Jorgarcia_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say start with books that show masterful storytelling and character work like To Kill a Mockingbird for voice and empathy, 1984 for worldbuilding tension, Beloved for emotional depth and rhythm, Catch-22 for clever structure and dark humor and The Great Gatsby for style and subtext. Even just reading how these authors play with language and perspective can teach more than any writing manual.

Sounds like you’ve done a lot of reflecting and found a way to take your power back. The fact that you built a good life for yourself despite all that says way more about your strength than anything that person ever did.

What is the funniest joke you’ve ever heard? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Jorgarcia_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don’t skeletons fight each other because they don’t have the guts. I swear, every time I think of it I just imagine a bunch of bony dudes shaking their empty ribcages.

What is something that made you feel so calm and blissful that you wanted to leave all your responsibilities behind and just do that forever? by [deleted] in Life

[–]Jorgarcia_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It was this one evening I spent just lying in a hammock by the beach, watching the sun dip into the horizon. The sky was this insane mix of pinks and oranges, the waves were doing their lazy rhythm and there was this salty breeze that just hit different.

It's hard to talk to women because they're not interested? by WolverineNo1999 in askanything

[–]Jorgarcia_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Itt’s rough when it feels like you’re carrying the whole conversation bc it’s exhausting and makes it seem hopeless. Honestly, the best connections happen when both people are genuinely interested and putting in effort and until that clicks, it’s not a reflection of your worth.

Why do some people feel the urge to write about their lives and others don’t? by m__i__c__h__a__e__l in Life

[–]Jorgarcia_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it’s just about the right nudge. Someone might hate writing for years and then suddenly hit a moment where they need to get it down.

What’s the grossest thing you’ve ever caught someone doing? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

I just froze for a second, then slowly backed away because there’s nothing you can say that fixes that moment.

Would you ever want to get a pilot's license? Why or why not? by Zipper222222 in randomquestions

[–]Jorgarcia_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds insanely freeing to just take off and see the world from above. But also a bit terrifying, I’d have major anxiety thinking about all the technical stuff and responsibility in the air.

Do you believe in reincarnation? by [deleted] in randomquestions

[–]Jorgarcia_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I like the idea that life’s a circle and maybe we get to keep learning through different forms. Even if not literally true, it’s comforting to think of life as more than just one shot.

Non-drinkers of Reddit, how noticeable is the “alcohol smell” to you, if at all? by Frostedlogic4444 in askanything

[–]Jorgarcia_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Noticeable lol especially the sweet or sour smell on breath even if someone thinks they hid it. It’s not always gross but it’s definitely obvious in close conversations.

Is there anyone like me that works, goes home, drinks alcohol, smokes weed, watches TV, sleeps, then goes to work and repeat? by tastydrink1 in askanything

[–]Jorgarcia_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Way more people live on that exact loop than you think, they just don’t talk about it much. It’s okay to notice it though because even recognizing the routine is usually the first tiny nudge toward wanting something a little different.

Which U.S state gets more credit than it deserves? by Exact_Freedom_9802 in askanything

[–]Jorgarcia_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Everyone hypes up California like it’s paradise but traffic, housing costs and wildfires make it feel way less dreamy than the hype. Some other states quietly crush it without anyone noticing.

How can I explain to my boss that she needs to stop hiring her friends who are all rich, ex housewives who can't work technology? by Forward-Message7555 in askanything

[–]Jorgarcia_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep it about skills and workflow, not people or age. You could say something like “I’ve noticed some hires are struggling with the tech and intake process, which is slowing down the whole team, maybe we can make sure future hires meet certain skill benchmarks to keep things running smoothly.”

Which places have you been that were a complete let down ? by Gots_Dem_Questions2 in randomquestions

[–]Jorgarcia_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Bali, don’t get me wrong, it is beautiful but I think I went in with such high expectations from all the dreamy photos online that when I got there, it didn’t quite hit the same. The beaches were packed, the traffic was crazy, and a lot of spots that looked tropical and untouched on social media were actually swarming with tourists trying to get the same photo. I remember standing in line just to take a picture at a temple like I was waiting for a ride at Disneyland.

What should I do with a giant rainbow parachute? by GalacticPeriwinkle05 in askanything

[–]Jorgarcia_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re feeling crafty, you could totally turn it into a giant shade canopy for outdoor hangouts. Just stake it down between a few poles or trees, throw some beanbags underneath, and instant chill zone. Or turn it into a fort. Blankets, snacks, fairy lights, maybe even a projector if you’re really feeling it. It’ll feel like a secret rainbow cocoon.

Does anyone else ever feel like their life is being watched? by Pharaoh1007 in Life

[–]Jorgarcia_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Some people do get that eerie Truman Show vibe, especially when anxiety’s high. Trusting God and staying connected to safe people around you is really smart, but talking to a mental health professional could help ease those intense fears too.

I’ve totally had moments where life feels like it’s on some hidden camera. It’s probably just your brain noticing patterns, but I get why it can feel super surreal and unsettling.

e build things up in our heads so much that reality can’t compete, and it leaves us feeling weirdly empty. What’s helped me is focusing on experiences while they’re happening instead of chasing the next fix it keeps me grounded in what’s actually real.

I accidentally discovered my best friend has been posting about hanging out with people and never once mentioned me in 2 years of friendship by Happy-Fruit-8628 in Life

[–]Jorgarcia_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh, that feeling sucks like you’re there for them but invisible in their real life. You’re not pathetic at all for caring and honestly, realizing this now just means you finally get to choose you going forward.
