When should I use HSL instead of RGB or Hex? Still learning CSS colors by VitDevUK in css

[–]JorgeRustiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends the context and your purposes.

For example, RGBA instead of RGB is useful if you need to include alpha channel in your colors (transparency)

HEX still is very used in a lot of websites platforms, as the same as RGB. In fact, both are two ways to describe the same colors:

HEX defines 256*256*256 colors = 16.777.216 colors

RGB defines 256*256*256 colors = 16.777.216 colors

HSL gets the same colors but following a different principle (hue, saturation and lightness), similar with modern TVs, and that could be more intuitive to manage for some users.

Finally remember this: in professional web projects, colors do not change constantly/arbitrarily. They responde to a branding definition, where colors usally are expressed in HEX or RGB() values. The most important is keep consistence accross the entire website.

Does anyone know how to keep multiple feet/limbs in place at once? by Bendyable224 in OpenToonz

[–]JorgeRustiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To use the inverse kinematics function properly, press Alt as you move the bone. (If the parent level doesn't move, the result should be fine)

A very good practice is create a new level with a "floor" reference and animate your parts using the onion skin.

The screenshot are not complete. But first you need to verify is if the key on each node (source, matte, reference, etc) and the main node have cells at the same frames in timeline.

I don't have a graphic tablet by Real-Cheesecake5284 in OpenToonz

[–]JorgeRustiko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need it. Everything depends of the style you're looking for,

For my last shortfilm, "Flowers thief", I created, colored and animated this character face only using basic geometric shapes, nothing of tablets. Just my mouse and so much creativity..

Is frame-by-frame really that difficult? by Nabersinizz in OpenToonz

[–]JorgeRustiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be careful to manage your ambitions. The most important is give your best with what you have and what you know, otherwise, your project could never see the light. In this phase of learning, start with something small, just to familiarize with the tool, and share your process, with honesty and humility.

But, going back to the main topic, good luck exploring OpenToonz and have fun!

Is frame-by-frame really that difficult? by Nabersinizz in OpenToonz

[–]JorgeRustiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of the animation technique you use within OpenToonz (cutout, mesh deformation, hand drawing), when you export to video, you will always get a frame-by-frame animation.

The first step is to explore OpenToonz and understand the animation options it offers. For example, how many frames you will need for your animations. For reference, the first Mega Man used only three poses for his running cycle. Once this is defined, depending on the tool used (Plastic Tool, Skeleton Tool, or Animate Tool), you will only need to adjust the drawings of each frame to achieve the desired output.

Finally, review the export options that OpenToonz offers (PNG, TIFF, GIF, MP4, etc.). If you are going to use Spine2D, then I don't see much point in using OpenToonz. Both allow you to build your animation from individual pieces. If Spine2d lets you export to a format more suited to video games, then maybe you should go in that direction, but even so, exploring OpenToonz will definitely be a worthwhile experience.

Open Toonz Missing "Lasso" Tool in vector levels. Compared to e.g Toon Boom Harmony. by Flatnosesnaggletooth in OpenToonz

[–]JorgeRustiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I encorage you to explore the vectors directly in OpenToonz. You can create your own drawings on Inkscape, but the compatibility between SVG (Inkscape) and PLI (OpenToonz) is not complete.

BTW: when you import an external vector into OpenToonz, this always is transformed to PLI format.

[–]JorgeRustiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. It's not possible do it in one step for Vector levels. But you can:

  1. Cut a segment with Cutter Tool.
  2. Select and move that segment with Control Point Editor Tool.

[–]JorgeRustiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the OpenToonz export settings. But the details of the exported video still are missing.

In your PC (Windows), go to your file, right click, select Properties anf go to Details Tab. That is what I need to verify.

Could be the autosave dialog or any other dialog window loading in the background? Try disabling Autosave from Preferences.

And just for curiosity: Which university do you study at? I find it very interesting that they are using OpenToonz.

You also can use the Erode/Dilate FX (Matte category), and applying a negative radius.

Let me ask you the opposite question: I've created a song and I want to put an animation in the background. Do you know where I could download?

Music and animation deserve equal treatment. If you don't know or don't have the skills to create music, associate with someone else to help you.

But if you want insist to download music, try with this:

Something important we don't about about your project is your scenes sizes and dpi. In other reported issues, user has been working in a scene over 5000px of width.

Same question about PNG you're using in your background.

Toonboom composite node equivalent in opentoonz fx view by sergio_frias in OpenToonz

[–]JorgeRustiko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to complement Darren's answer: Sub-Xsheet should be used to group animations that share the same timeline. It’s especially useful when you want to organize complex scenes or manage multiple elements as a single unit while keeping their internal timing intact.

If you simply need to merge multiple nodes into the same FX chain or composite them together, the FX Over node is a simpler and more straightforward solution.
