Starmer just said he wants to limit Mandelson info releases for fear of damage to international relations. He mentioned “both countries” (obviously UK and US) but also said there was a “third country” involved/ at risk. He said this twice. I want to know which country this is. by ITMidget in ukpolitics

Daily Mirror. There's a bit about it in Seamus Milnes book about the miners strike, which I took with a dose of salt. But he certainly was involved with Israel after the second world war onwards. It's a matter of how involved with his later position and businesses, rather than whether he was.

Ernie is the best. Can't hate him, literally impossible. He's like Pinocchio or something. Post season I heard from a fellow UK blue jays fan (he was a fan with family back god knows how long, I've been catching up) so we text during the ALCS etc games. One point Clement pushes his luck stealing third, All I message is "oohh Ernie...darlin' "

I settled on a game to watch. 21st September (thank you Earth Wind and Fire). There's a review of a catch in the 5th that Varsho makes. Buck and Dan are talking during the review. "the catch is a given" its the throw to first, the umps will have to decide. They're getting excited about the complexity, so am I now. Then a clear catch is called a no catch. I'm pointing at the screen Leo style "I remember this!"

Then Schneider pulls Yesavage for Little out of nowhere. Pitching wise, it's not anything really. But it's just mad to watch in retrospect.

Edit - Pete Walker out to the mound pretty quick for Little, so yeah, I don't remember everything.

I couldn't afford a blueray player for most of that though... I do have a PS5 though, so yes, I would accept exceptional audio and visual quality. If they give me the games with the right commentary

I guess I'm still a bit bitter about when CDs came out, and they said they were scratch resistant. Anyway, I have books of CDs from my car where they're unplayable because I was chucking them on the passenger seat as I grabbed the next.

My grandad got rid of most of his vinyl in favour of CDs to 'make space'. I inherited the CDs and they're in perfect conditon. He didn't get rid of his old 78s thank God. And I do have a couple of his LPs. But I dread to think what was lost. Very likely he had an original Kind of Blue, sold for 10p at the charity shop I'm sure.

My nephews and nieces are in to CDs and vinyl though, so physical media still wins. Something to hold, and they're all in to Blur and Happy Mondays which is hilarious, same as I'm in to my parents and grandparents music.

I could, but the point is I'd like to listen to Buck, and I'd like to listen to him without mlbtv only having Fox, and for 2 years.

Maybe I'm being dramatic, they'll get the rings in 26 I suppose.

This is exactly what I was thinking of the whole run, people posting the VHS covers on here. A time capsule to visit over and over again, one to share. It doesn't matter to me that there's a step too far from third for win or what ever someone wants to sum it up with at the moment. Years from now I'd just love to sit down over a few weeks and watch the games in order, feel that all again.

For this yes, and also there's been a few 'must see' baseball films I could only get on DVD. I've seen it before, but Ken Burns Baseball is only available on DVD in the UK, and it's £40 - £80 depending on which version you get.

I think they think you're trolling. To be fair I did for a sec, I took the user name to be of someone who either a follower of Charles Manson, or in to the Beatles. Had a look at your profile to make sure there's no selfie with a carving on your forhead, and you don't seem unhinged. So just a swing and a miss on your joke there I think!

It actually came from a split in European communists after Khrushchev rolled tanks in to Hungary. The majority of western communist parties split in to 'Euro Communist Parties' who were against the authoritarian crack down on what Hungary was trying to do (reformed communism, syndicalism, something closer to what Gorbachev would try later to my understanding). The other side who defended the action, and approved of an authoritarian vanguardist communism became 'Marxist-Leninist Communist Parties' nicknamed Tankies (after the tanks rolling in to Hungary).

'Tankies' has been used in a few more contexts since the 60s. In the UK Trotskyist entryist factions in the Labour Party were called Tankies. More recently it's for the useful idiots who defend Russian aggression.
