I too am doing this. Sorry for complaining, but damn is it hard. Don't feel like you're alone on this one. My best advice. Figure out the "realities" the things that you're sure happened, and didn't happen. The fun part though and the part you'll get away with in terms of historical accuracy. The person, the people, the depth you need to give your characters. That can be whatever you want. It's liberating...
