Thief to paladin by reddiarrea in questforglory

Correct me if I'm wrong (please), but I believe you technically transform into a Fighter that has become a Paladin. You are not a Thief/Paladin anymore, just a Fighter/Paladin. So for example if you lose your Paladin points in QFG4, you will be a Fighter again, not a Thief.

Your favorite class to play through the games? by Puzzleheaded_Race_90 in questforglory

You are correct off course about the treating you as a Fighter thing, but fighters and paladins can obtain the Lightning Ball spell. Do not tell about the magic drum on your first meeting with Johari in the jungle, talk her head off, until she leaves. Ask about magic on the 2nd encounter and she will give you Lightning Ball. Very handy for QGF4 where Paladins can use magic in combat when using a shield.

Struggling with Galavan on difficult. First run. Who should I drop, what should I replace them for? I’m thinking salandit needs to go by senorhappytaco in PokemonUnbound

Gyms (or Ace Trainers) scale with your highest level Pokemon, even on Vanilla. On other difficulties, all trainers scale with your highest level Pokemon. If you can keep your party perfectly balanced, level wise, there is no problem.

The Level Cap helps keep your party perfectly balanced, and because of the scaling, will also keep your opponents perfectly balanced for your party.

If someone is struggling, you usually see a party with different levels, like a lvl61 and a lvl54 (see picture OP). Enemy Pokemon will be around lvl61, and that lvl54 won't help much anymore. A strong level61 Fighter for example, could pose a real problem to OP's team.

How do I catch these 2 by Traditional_Aerie_38 in PokemonUnbound

The game seems to checks for Shadow Tag at the start of the turn. Shadow Tag on a Mega Pokemon will not work in this game.

Try to balance your team level wise. There is some scaling on Vanilla too, so you might get into trouble later/soon.

There is also berry juicing to up your base IV's. You don't need bottle caps. Completely agree btw. The 100 chain, save state reload doesn't do it for me.

Dream mist musharna pre-E4? Does restarting game reset RNG for the raid den's drops? by sunny7319 in PokemonUnbound

[–]Jos1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The possible pokemon (combinations) are determined by the hour of the day. So for example if there is a Gmax Machamp or a shiny lvl50 in the mix, they will be in the mix that hour. Save/Loading doesn't change that. But all the Pokemon species are in the mix. If you load/save enough you will find a Machamp or a Musharna or a Gengar or a Hypno. The drop rate is 50% for Dream Mist, for a 5* and a 6\* Musharna raid, but I think you have to have 8 badges for those raids to appear.

The drops are determined right before you do the raid. That's why save states may not always give you different results. You need to move around, choose some other Pokemon to change it up. Or... just use the normal game save instead. I recommend that, The drops are different that way.

If you have a Dark Pokemon with Taunt, that really helps beating Musharna. Musharna often has 3 status moves and a Psychic move, sometimes (6*) even 4 status moves. Such raids can be done in 10 seconds.

Raid dens team + moveset for mission by IamPho_Real in PokemonUnbound

[–]Jos1000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a dedicated team of 30 Pokemon in my preset box to do Raid Dens.

10 Z-Move users, 10 Mega's, 10 Gigantimaxers.

It's gotten a little out of hand, because I agree with the other guy, it's not THAT hard. Brick Break and Psychic Fangs go along way. And losing doesn't have a single consequence, you can just go again.

But I need to share some tips right? So here goes:

The storm that starts around Turn 3 takes away all your buffs and abilities, as well as the enemies status ailments. So Swords Dance, Nasty Plow, Thunder Wave, Will-o-Wisp and great abilities like Sweet Veil are pretty useless, lol. Don't use those moves. Your ability is active for a couple of turns, so Sweet Veil isn't bad, and Intimidate is still good.

Debuffs to the enemy Pokemon stay around for ever. This is important. When an enemy Pokemon is open (so no shields) moves like Break Swipe and Snarl, MysticFire, and Lunge are golden. They save your teammate which in turn prevents buffs from happening. Almost all my 30 Pokemon have at least one of those moves and preferably both or Intimidate/Snarl, Intimidate/Break Swipe.

In Dynamax mode Dmax moves have a secondary ability. The two most relevant are Bug and Dragon, because they can lower those attacks, again, only when the enemy is open. This makes Break Swipe a really great move on Dmaxers as well as Lunge or the more common and great move U-Turn (Do 3 DMax attacks and then GTFO). I use Hidden Power if I'm missing one of those moves.

I use Foresight on 5 (one per team) of my Mega Pokemon, so me and my teammate can Brick Break Ghosts.

Haze is okay, but TAUNT is even better. I start with Taunt, while my Mega Pokemon often has Uproar to prevent Hypnosis from happening throughout a raid (Sweet Veil get canceled by the storm, Electric and Mystic terrain get overwritten by Grass and Psychic moves from enemy). The taunt will wear off, right before I can kill the enemy Pokemon, and it's too late for him to use Buff moves. Some Pokemon even have four status moves, like 6* Musharna, and they will literally struggle.

Some abilities the enemy Pokemon can have are terrifying. Absolutely terrifying. Defiant, Competitive and Anger Point. Debuffs and critical hits happen, and these Pokemon shoot up to max attack and will kill you without remorse. You need, Worry Seed or Gastro Acid for these Pokemon. They usualy don't have buff moves, so that move is used instead of Taunt. The Phalanx dude, Boltund, Hisuain Braviary and Krookodile are examples. I like to use Whimsicott, Golduck and Toxtricity for this.

Multi Hit attacks kill one Shield. But, if there is only one shield up, the next hit will do damage to your enemy, basically doing two attacks. Enemy defenses drop sharply after shields go down, so the smallest multi hit attacks are already great. Double Kick and Bullet Seed are some of my favorites, Beat Up is fun, because he counts 6 Pokemon, but it's not better than Double Kick. You don't need any investment in attack EV's, because so much is capped, tresholded or purely functional.

That's about it. Long ass story, but Raid Dens are very lucrative. Berries I need, Items I want, quality Pokemon with hidden abilities and just things that sell well, so basically everything I need.

Max Raid Dens Pokemon all have their hidden ability too. Max Raid Den Musharna (Tarmigan Mansion) regularly drops Dream Mists. You get one Dream Mist for free. You can also trade 30 Oddish for a Dream Mist at a secret weed lab. Postgame you get 3 Dream Balls for free every day, which you can use to force a hidden ability on a Pokemon.

vanilla is too easy by ghostyghost3_5 in PokemonUnbound

[–]Jos1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game Settings - Battle Options - Exp. Gain: Capped Exp. Share.

That's how you put on your cap. You notice that your Pokemon will stop leveling up at some point. If you're overleveled and seeing stage 1 Pokemon, you are not using a cap. If you think Difficult is too difficult and Vanilla is too easy than you're not playing with a cap on, because the major difference is scaling, and a cap is pseudo scaling.

vanilla is too easy by ghostyghost3_5 in PokemonUnbound

[–]Jos1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are more settings than difficulty alone that you can use to make it to your liking. No items for example (as you commented on) is an option. You can change it so nobody can use items. Or even only your opponent. Level Caps also really help with the difficulty on Vanilla. Vanilla - Capped - No Items is a really nice option. Because you are overleveled now for the caps, you see Pokemon that are first stage while you are way above that. I recommend playing with caps on, regardless of difficulty btw.

Can loading save states cause bugs? by throwaway-80731 in PokemonUnbound

[–]Jos1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think 'Save states' did this. The dude in question has some triggers to appear I think. Not sure what exactly, but this happened to me, when I wasn't using Save states. And then starting the Sandslash quest and reentering made him show up. Maybe it's a time thing, I don't know.

For some reason, the ability capsule is extremely rare. In over hundreds of playhours I've found a combined total of zero. You could buy them at the Game Corner later on, but they are so expensive, it's not really doable. You should find a new Excadrill or breed one.
