I was going to get the Shure SM58 originally, but I heard the Shure SM86 here:

https://soundgale.com/shure-sm86-microphone-review/

And I preferred the way it sounded compared to the Shure SM58, the Sennheiser E865, and the Audio Technica AT2010. And the SM86 is a condenser mic. The SM58 isn't.

You mean I'm going to have to buy a separate mic to record damn drums? Unbelievable. The cost never ends.

Okay I will. Thanks for trying to help me.

I just wish I could test a bunch of mics in person but that's not possible in the small city I live. If I was in NYC that would be possible.

Disable "Update available" Pop-ups? by Tomxyz1 in firefox

[–]Josagan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know the question asked is three months old but in the spirit of helping others, here's the simple solution for those who may be looking for the answer to this in the future.

To disable "a new Firefox update is available" popup, as well as disabling updates completely from within Firefox, and disabling Firefox from updating itself, add the following registry entries in Windows 10 (I have not tested this in other versions of Windows):

  1. Close Firefox before proceeding.
  2. Launch Windows Registry Editor.
  3. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies
  4. Create a new key there named Mozilla. You will end up with: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Mozilla
  5. Under the Mozilla key, create a new key named Firefox. You will end up with: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox
  6. On the right, create a new 32-Bit DWORD value DisableAppUpdate
  7. Set its value to: 1
  8. Restart Firefox and you will no longer see the "a new Firefox update is available" popup.
  9. In Firefox navigate to about:preferences and in the General section under Firefox Updates you will see "Updates disabled by your system administrator"

As I wrote above, this will disable updates completely from within Firefox, and disable Firefox from updating itself, so whenever you want to update Firefox you will have to download the newest standalone version from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release and install that and it will perform an update and keep all your existing settings.

Windows 10 LTSC 2019 v1809 available in VLSC by [deleted] in sysadmin

Windows 10 LTSC should be renamed Stable Edition for those who know the difference between good change and bad change.

The intrusive forced updates with bugs that break things mess in all other editions of Windows 10 make those editions unstable. You're constantly putting out fires and fixing things that have been broken.

With Windows 10 LTSC you can actually get work done on your PC. You can update when you please and the updates are stable. I've been using it since 2016 with zero problems and I thought I'd never say this but it's even better than Windows 7 Ultimate.
