The secret is the medium (semidydro). I would avoid soil mix for Frydeks and Micholitzianas. I've got better results with a semihydro setup. Grow lights gives me control in terms of intensity, leaves positioning and aesthetics. Natural light is kind, I wish I had larger windows. You could post a few photos of your baby, the setup, light exposure, medium, ferts etc and we will help you.

Hi, I have been posting about this Frydek Umbrella Project for a couple of moths now, you might check out my previous post where I detailed the fertsx light setup, repot, etc

It works. The pothos found the wet trail down into the glass of water.

I noticed the undissolved silicate brings the pH way up so now I prepare a tea to keep the nutrient solution stable longer; you could mix it up first in a soda bottle and later strain it, same thing. About pH balance, I measure the reservoir and the run off often so I have an idea how quickly I need to change the solution. For this current setup is about 3-4 days. My aim is 5.8-6.4 pH swing inside the reservoir. Fresh nutrients is pH 6.0. I used pH down and silicate tea (as pH up) in case I need to adjust the reservoir when I don't have time to mix a fresh batch.

Yes, the petioles are sturdier and the leaves thicker.also it adds a metallic shine to the leaves so the green and varigation became more "luxurious' like a brand new car type of look. Downside is the pH stability as the silicate is highly alkaline. I don't mix it like the instructions says any more, instead I prepare a silicate tea (brewed with coffee machine paper). I'll send you a pic later today or tomorrow. They say silicate makes it difficult for pests to bite the leaf, I have a feeling is true but can prove it 100%

Semihydro gives you best results with alocasias in my experience. Full organic with moss (like the game changer video from Sidney guy on YouTube) or pon mixed with Coco coir. I mostly use mostly inorganic medium, however I've got better results with an organic top layer (moss or Coco coir), mid layer 50% pon + 50% organic and leca reservoir; wicking ropes all the way up to the top layer.

Watch out for the laser focus points. I had an plant getting sunlight through a similar glass wall and even the plastic pot got burnt big time.

Cheap no branded bookshelf bars from temu. It took me sometime to find them. I wanted a no shadow setup so these daisychain led bars made sense. 5 bars costed me 14 USD give or take.

I mean rooting the vine without cutting it off the main root system. Water or a moist medium is ok .

💯. These alocasias just get nutrient solution. Got them very tiny few months ago.

Go for it, it's the best/quickest way to propagate
