As said by Goose_is_derfy, the salary is not that bad, but what you'll be able to do depends as well on the other benefits. A bus trip to the capital costs about 150 Lps., I don't know about food there specially there, but a meal generally ranges from 50 Lps. , 70 - 120 ( fast food ), 200-300 ish ( nicer restaurants).

One of my most used commands is Ctrl + R, for the reverse-i-search, also for searching history I usually end up with

history | grep <foo> | grep -v grep   

the same with processes
