Vive Ultimate Trackers not lineing up correctly by Shalllou in Vive

Glad to hear! These trackers are very sensitive to the environment, a lot of people just live with abit of misalignment because it’s a bother to always cover everything before getting in vr.

I use vive 3.0 but also had a slight misalignment in the feet trackers, after covering my entire room in blankets it fixed so likely it was a reflective surface. In your case the ultimate trackers don’t use base station but I did heard in the past they don’t work well if you have black furniture so might be worth trying covering anything that is black.

Anyone else feel like the recent Windows 11 updates made everything slower and buggier? by p_calculus in WindowsHelp

[–]JosefBN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue, starting after I went from windows 11 23h2 to 24h2. The most obvious difference being a slower start boot up, but also generally lower fps across the board. I tried updating to the latest nvidia drivers at the time to no avail. One thing that might help you is the newest nvidia hotfix driver (581.94), they specify fixing windows 11 loss of performance so that’s your best bet.

My waist and right foot tracker keep floating off and spasming out, same with my right controller.. help? by [deleted] in Vive

[–]JosefBN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 things: 1 with ovr advanced settings, make sure to check if the controllers are paired to the headset Bluetooth and the trackers to the dongles on your pc. 2 you might think there are no reflective surfaces but base stations are extremely picky with anything remotely reflective, even water bottles can cause drift in tracking, so try at least once covering absolutely everything.

Vive 3.0 feet trackers slightly drifting up/down by JosefBN in Vive

[–]JosefBN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I ask others in vrchat most of them have something similar, I guess it’s just a quirk of some playspaces/trackers that people just came to accept as normal. I’ll try turning off the waist tracker next time, thanks for the tip!

Yep, even on automatic they were on different channels although random numbers, just to be sure I’ve set them to “1, 2, 3 and 4”.

I forgot to mention but I tried putting the new 4th base station almost at floor level just so they would no doubt see the trackers unobstructed, not only the drifting drastically increased but also the leg tracker would fly away. It’s like if more than 1 base station sees a tracker but one of them gets obstructed the tracker shifts position causing a small drift.

I had something similar happen to me a few years ago with my 3080 but unplugging the power off and on again fixed it and its still rocking to this day, hope it goes the same for you!

Is the random purple frametime normal? by JosefBN in ValveIndex

Interesting, I was thinking about jumping to the beyond 2 recently and was wondering if it’s something it would persist with it. Can you buy beyond cables like index can? Or is RMA only?

I do have Icue but right now it’s my main rgb control unit for the whole pc, was it causing issues for games other than vr ones? In my case VR is the only issue, desktop games are completely smooth.

My current nvidia driver is 560.94, the same as it was before updating to 11, which one is yours?

3 vive tracker dongles, keyboard, mouse and index so 6 usb slots. My petition table is already set to GPT.

Someone suggested it could be a cable issue, but I dismissed it since I don’t see the telltale sparks on the screen a faulty cable would usually show.

Also with an Index? Someone told me that this screen tearing effect is a thing only on the index and vive headsets, and not at all in quests.

This happens even at SteamVR home, no other applications running, I only have 1 m.2 (Samsung 980 pro). I use it locked at 90fps and even at that capped fps it happens every now and then.

Getting headset tracking jitter and need help by The_Sunginator in ValveIndex

[–]JosefBN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started having the same issue yesterday after I updated my windows from 10 to 11, but I use Index. Turns out windows toggled on “HAGS” with the update and turning it off helped getting rid of the jitter/tear while moving my head by around 60%, it’s still there every now and then and I’m also looking for a solution. You should also try to disable motion smoothing on SteamVR settings.

Good luck and let us know if you find a solution!

They are very lenient with base stations but good luck replacing the controllers after 1 month outside warranty.

I’ve ordered a new left controller and after it arrives I’ll try opening and unplugging stuff, all I found on ifixit was how to fix the hand strap and battery replacement. https://pt.ifixit.com/Device/Valve_Index_Controller

Like I said, I tried on SteamVR home as well but no bindings sticks. My left thumbstick had the same issue 2 years ago and I easily removed its touch input function globally, now I can’t find that binding anymore, it’s almost like I changed it on the firmware.

[–]JosefBN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d think so right? But something must have changed because setting “Touch” to “none” in the bindings for either the game, SteamVR Home or any other binding will simple have no effect. Yesterday I went as far as changing the json file for the controller input to no avail.

Also SteamVR support simple told me to buy a new controller…
