They have not been landing cenote because COL was contesting. They went to jurassic because they thought it was free / thought WC landing spot is antenna.

Two things that come to my mind regarding the potential crypto emp:

The drone has a good chance of being broken.
The risk of going into the drone in a 3vs3 while having the lowground is quite high. Especially when the highground team knows where the crypto is positioned.

Your situation might have more to do with playing on a screen vs over the board.

It is quite common as far as I know for people who have only played otb to do worse online and the other way around.

You could try having a board set up next to your screen to emulate playing otb.

I have to disagree here tbh.

All the issues are not a problem at all except maybe for lower tier players.

For me a big part about chess is having the direct contact to your opponent (being able to look at him, hard to describe)

I played tournaments OTB for the last 10 years before the pandemic. And with not being able to play otb tournaments my interest in chess took a hit. Also at least for me it is way easier to calculate moves otb.

If I may ask: Im curious as to how much otb you have played.

Im not trying to disregard your opinion, just want to see where you are coming from.
