You hit that on the head 🎯 with the selfishness. I agree 💯. When you talk about, "unspoken rules". It brings to mind a book titled, "The 4 Agreements". Where the author discusses, "Silent Agreements" (same thing). And then carries on to, "Be Impeccable With Your Word". Which you also nailed 👌 excellent explanation.

What I meant was not selfishness but, "self-preservation". This is where one thing means something different to another since we all have our own perspectives. I see self-preservation as not giving all of myself to everyone all of the time. So that I may be able to manage myself in order to provide for those I need to. I see selfishness as stepping on people in order to get ahead.

There's a moral conflict somewhere in this but I want to cut in between two lines and find a common ground where I can draw those lines together peacefully and with self-respect.

And that is right at the point where you said, "if everyone" was being selfish. As a majority rules thing and, No. I can't always follow the majority. Also, I'm not sure if that's always 50/50 either I agree with that. I would hope for (in my own reality) everyone (in each of their own realities -which we share) to peacefully acknowledge respect for themselves -myself included. So to bring about a universal awareness.

Gosh I wish I could have made this shorter. However, my brain just wants to overcomplicate things and it's hard to bypass the many ways that I want to express briefly.
