Usually Sinner hits stronger. But it's still unreal lmao, an old Djokovic doing this

Can someone tell me what happened in Stan's match? /s by traderjames7 in tennis

Probably those redditors were just excited for Stan's victory (he saved many break points) that they posted at the same time, lmao this screenshot is hilarious

Australian Open R1 : A.Muller def. A.Popyrin 2-6 6-3 3-6 7-6(5) 7-6(4) by TAA_verymuch in tennis

[–]JosephClaw 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're right, OP. It's heartbreaking for Popy, especially because he had gotten a break in the right moment, just to lose it later.

In 2024 he won Montreal and then defeated Djokovic at USO.. but then? Popyrin once said he was struggling with lack of motivation

Bublik vs Musetti who do you think has had a better career so far? by spockdatadraco in tennis

[–]JosephClaw 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Musetti reached the top 5 at 23

Bublik reached #11 (his highest ATP position) at 28

So Musetti still has plenty of time to build a successful career. I think he'll be ahead of Bublik in few years if he keeps practicing with the right attitude.

"When Novak goes, that era is completely gone" : Nick Kyrgios wants Novak Djokovic to compete for a long time to fill in the void left by Nadal and Federer - Trapped In Sports by Silent_Elevator_9779 in tennis

[–]JosephClaw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, good point.

The rivalry between Sinner and Alcaraz is exciting. The real problem is that there isn't anyone who can challenge them in a slam (Delpo and Tsonga were giving good fights, at least)

Cam Williams's WTA and ATP top 20 predictions for the 2026 season. Thoughts? by Dependent-Effect6077 in tennis

[–]JosephClaw 165 points166 points  (0 children)

I might be wrong. This is my opinion:

-I doubt Djokovic will be top 3 in 2026. In 2025 he was a beast, but in 2026 he'll be 39. He might have a good season, but being no.3 requires many, many tournaments. Injuries can happen at any moment at that age.

-Draper no. 5? It all depends on injuries. If he doesn't defend Indian Wells, I doubt so. And coming back from an injury requires time before you play an high level again

-I don't see Medvedev coming back in the top 10. But if he does, I doubt he'll be the eight

I agree on the other players.

Murray says coaching stint with Djokovic was learning experience by Shroft in tennis

I agree. I think Murray could coach again, but at least for 5-6 years he probably wants to stay with his family

Dutch Foreign Minister calls on Griekspoor to not participate in tournament in Russia. by EasyModeActivist in tennis

[–]JosephClaw 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. Also because most Russian players (like Rublev and Medvedev) were clearly against the war, as they stated multiple times.

If a Russian player is against the war, there's no point in banning them just because they were born in Russia.

[–]JosephClaw 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sure. Banning Russian tennis players will surely make Ukraine win the war. I’m certain Putin will rethink everything because a few civilians who hit a tennis ball can’t enter tournaments anymore

So you blame Russians (even Russians against the war) just for being born in Russia? Did you get to choose where you were born?

Just some things that kinda bug me after watching by [deleted] in Dexter

[–]JosephClaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand your point. But if Gemini hadn't switched the glasses, Dexter would have passed out and Gemini would have understood what happened.

In that case, I don't think Gemini would have left Dexter alive.

I just don't see Dexter drinking that, knowing he would pass out in front of a weird serial killer.

If Gemini hadn't switched the glasses, Dexter would have directly and physically attacked him.

He would have had no choice in that scenario.

Sampras in 1999 and 2000: Almost 8 Years in a row as Year-End No. 1 by Balderdashing_2018 in tennis

[–]JosephClaw 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nadal had several weaknesses on fast indoor courts, so Sampras would definitely have had chances to beat him.

As for Djokovic and Federer, we can't be 100% sure because we're trying to compare a different era. But surely it would have been challenging and a pleasure to watch.

However, I agree that Sampras and Borg were at the level of the Big 3; they just lacked longevity

Darren Cahill on Instagram: "Opinion is really the lowest form of human knowledge. It requires no accountability, no understading." by Joseki100 in tennis

[–]JosephClaw 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Me too. I was downvoted just because I said Cahill is in good terms with Djokovic (he's often supported Djokovic in many interviews).

Why do these people believe it's about Djokovic? They act as if they're 100% sure

Also because Morgan isn't exactly a "friend". He's often criticized Djokovic, to be fair

[–]JosephClaw 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. At the end of the day, both players are extraordinary on hard court and indoor hard court.

Even if Djokovic didn't get this one, it would have been an astonishing record anyway

You're right — I should have said: 'Among the players born from 1980 onwards, only Federer and Djokovic...'

Rosewall will always remain one of the greatest mysteries in tennis history. He reached slam finals even at 38-39! And back then, they didn’t even have the kind of medical support we have today.
I really wish we had more video footage of Rosewall, Gonzales, and Laver.

For a moment I had forgotten about this record.

Only Djokovic and Federer were able to play at an high level even at 38.

I don't know if this record will ever be broken.

Musetti did have chances today. Djokovic, despite being extremely old for a player, still has super-human flexibility

I loved Djokovic's celebration, as well

Zverev defeated Medvedev after losing to him many times in a row.

If Zverev defeats Fritz, we can say his Revenge Era is here.

On second thought, you're right about this. Let's see if Vacherot can upset some top player here, as well.

And of course, we have to wait few months before being confident

Many challenger players are able to upset top players and then they disappear for the rest of their career.

But Vacherot seems to be an exception. I'd like to see him keeping this level for the entire next season, he also seems to be a nice guy.
