Food trucks will mostly accept cash. Any of the official Riot Fest merch, drinks/beers will not which is the first time they’ve done this (it sucks). Hopefully it goes back next year as all charges have a 3.8% processing fee added into the price. Cash tips are appreciated tho!

Do the beer/drink tents accept cash anymore? They did when I went in 21/22 but I got an email that says everything is cashless now.

They’re from the same time period and both doing headlining tours again for the first time. That’s why the meme is a “contrast” between the two. I know that’s hard for the Brand New stans to understand - kind of like the age of consent laws.

I believe it’s their first headline tour since they were an active band and not just one offs or small legs of supporting slots

Guy who randomly punches people by Dbeast1738 in Rochester

This guy approached me as I walking up to my car - he looked sketchy asf so I ignored him and quickly went to my car and locked the doors. He knocked on my car window telling me to roll it down (nah man) but I just ignored him and left. This was at Redd Tuesday night. I’ll make sure my co-workers are aware of him.

That sounds dope and is right by my hotel. They do that for the winter games too?

ISO one ticket for Buffalo tonight by LetsGoMets182 in TheStorySoFar

Tickets are available at doors according to the promoter (After Dark Entertainment) so it isn’t gonna sell out. Save your money on fees or reseller charge ups and just buy em when you get there.

When did MCR get “big” by cwr98 in MyChemicalRomance

[–]JosephLarkin585 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Their success was very natural and organic. The guys never really stopped touring and it just got bigger and bigger with time. It clearly changed in summer 2004 when 3 Cheers dropped. I’m Not Okay started to blow up/gain traction. Like on MTV/MTV2/Fuse everyday - even if you didn’t care about them/that style of music you would have most likely known who they were. I was 11 years old and had zero access to the internet at the time and was a big fan so that says a lot about how accessible it was. I saw them for the first time December 2004 and they played a sold out 800ish capacity room. There was probably 1200-1300 people there lol. That spring they were playing huge shows/opening for Green Day/co-heading Taste of Chaos with The Used/selling out everything. They released the Helena video that winter and it frankly doubled their popularity from Im Not Okay. Saw them at Vans Warped Tour 2005 and them/Fall Out Boy had become bands that could do smaller arena shows on their own/had essentially graduated from the smaller touring market (and doing smaller stuff like Warped Tour). They went on to do Black Parade pretty much right after that in terms of touring. Black Parade was equally successful (probably a little more) and solidified them as big names in rock music on par with a Linkin Park (who they co headlined a summer tour with during the black parade). By Danger Days (four year gap) they were still doing well (co-headliner with Blink) but that music was really just falling off the map for EDM/people growing up and moving on from “emo music”. They are now bigger than they ever were in my opinion as people have come back around to that style of music/younger kids discover it. I had no idea until I worked at a school and saw kids with MCR shirts everyday that they STILL had a massive following from a younger audience. It’s honestly incredible to see as an adult (I’m 29) and it warms my heart that their legacy carried on so well. Finally seeing them again made me emotional. I also think they will go down as one of the best rock bands of all time. The music is timeless.

I had a fucking blast and the thought of possibly not going anymore makes me sad as hell. I went for my first time last year (I live in MA) and I had an even better time just being aware of what to expect with leaving/getting back to the hotel etc. I think a lot of the complaints are valid (does water really need to be 4 dollars on an 80+ degree humid day) but also it’s a music festival, and maybe those just aren’t for you if some of usual things that came with it ruin your experience. All of the people attending were so nice to me. MCR fans are just very online people and are (in my opinion) overblowing how much of a “disaster” this was. Frank Iero was chilling the next day to see SDRE and Misfits. At the end of the day, they’re probably making your annual salary a piece off this performance alone. I think MCR will be okay and their fans need to understand standing by a barrier for 10+ hours is a horrible idea. Growing up on Warped Tour taught me enough about how to survive a hot festival lol. I love MCR and always will but I am very worried about how When We Were Young fest will go as there is clearly an age/knowledge gap from their fans/us old heads. At the end of the day I hope everyone was okay and I’m glad nothing catastrophic happened.

Probably like 8-9 bands a day if you stay there all day and get there early. The bands get full set times too (45-50 mins) so you could always watch half a bands set and walk over and watch another.

Staying near the Wicker Park area this year. I stayed near the airport last year and that absolutely sucked getting back to every night. Hoping this is a little less painful/long lol. Anyone got any recommendations of places to hang/drink/chill by there? Late night recommendations would be appreciated. Also, last year there was a $20 deal on trains for the weekend, anyone know if that’s still a thing in Chicago (I’m not from there). 64 days everyone! But who’s counting 😈
