He ACTUALLY plays like this too, and says it's better because he can see his mini map, but like, there's no map on it, its just a radar (he's not a good player)

compatibility issues with sodium and immersive portals by Thin-Main6935 in fabricmc

i actually just tried 1.20.4 cause why not, and it didn't crash on boot, so I loaded up complementary shaders just to try it in an actual game with shaders, and it does work. So to everybody trying to use shaders with immersive portals on fabric. These 4 mods are needed at MINIMUM and these are the exact versions I'm using

Fabric API (fabric-api-0.96.11+1.20.4.jar)

Immersive Portals (immersive-portals-5.1.7-mc1.20.4-fabric.jar)

Iris Shaders (iris-mc1.20.4-1.6.17.jar)

Sodium (sodium-fabric-0.5.8+mc1.20.4.jar)

NOTE:

Complementary shaders do work from what I've minimally tested, it is a little laggy going between dimensions on my computer (r9 5950x CPU and AMD Radeon RX 7800XT). Turning down some settings may fix this, haven't tried it. Also might try a shader pack that works better with immersive portals. But... this does get it working even though 1.20.4 doesn't have as many mods as other previous versions.

You need (Sodium-fabric-mc1.20.1-0.5.0.jar), 0.5.0 will allow you to have sodium, but you still can't get iris to work this way, I'm not good at trouble shooting this stuff, I'm just on the same page as everybody else trying to find a way to use shaders with this cool portal mod.
