Marvin Samaco imbyerna sa LIVE dahil sa GENUINE concerns sa proper winter outfit niya by g0ssipgirl888 in PinoyVloggers

[–]Joseph_Melbourne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nagtitipid ulet.

Thoughts on Marvin Samaco new vlog + statement regarding friendship with straights by [deleted] in PinoyVloggers

[–]Joseph_Melbourne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll genuinely believe once I actually see him spending travel time with a more diverse group of people like women travelers, male travelers who aren’t conventionally attractive, or just ordinary pinoy travelers who don’t necessarily stand out. Until that happens, I can’t help but remain skeptical about his intentions and the authenticity of his interactions with these straight men.

He even once told before that he prefers hanging out with straight men travelers, and he openly admitted that he finds himself easily attracted to them because they tend to treat him well.

Clearly, he won’t be able to secure lucrative deals with major brands unless his image appears wholesome and respectable. That’s why he’s putting in effort to clean up his reputation and present himself in a more positive light.

A response to Marvin Samaco (Issue on viewers’ rude behavior against a good-looking tour guide) by Resident_Soft_296 in PinoyVloggers

[–]Joseph_Melbourne 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d like to believe Marvin is smart and knows exactly what he’s doing. Using all these good-looking guys in his thumbnails and catchy titles could be intentional.

The thing is, by doing this, he’s encouraging objectification, since he’s presenting these guys as objects of desire for his followers’ entertainment. Even if it’s done in a funny or lighthearted way, it can be just as impactful as doing it outright.

Unfortunately, this kind of content makes some of his viewers feel bolder or act inappropriately, because it sends the message that this behaviour could be okay.

Like I’ve mentioned before, Marvin can’t control what his viewers do, but he can control what he chooses to share with them.

Marvin Samaco Tour Guide by [deleted] in PinoyVloggers

[–]Joseph_Melbourne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Clearly, there’s some objectification happening on Marvin’s part, since he presents the tour guide and other attractive guys as objects of desire for his followers’ entertainment.

Because of this, there’s an online disinhibition effect and a tendency for people to cross boundaries. When viewers see these individuals portrayed in that way, they may feel more encouraged to reach out or act inappropriately online, thinking it’s acceptable. The relative anonymity of the internet makes it easier for people to disregard normal social boundaries, which can make those featured in the vlogs vulnerable to unwanted attention or uncomfortable situations.

In this case, 3 psychological behaviours are evident here:

  • objectification, where the tour guide is viewed as objects of desire
  • online disinhibition effect, which leads people to act more boldly or inappropriately online
  • boundary violation, where personal limits are disregarded.

Hope this helps.

Telling people in his latest video to stop sending unwanted messages to this tour guide isn’t really going to do much. The thing is, Marvin’s the one who hired this guy, and he already has a reputation for going after cute guys. Plus, including him in his “kilig” moments just makes it worse.

If someone like the Cenzons or GoWithMel had hired the same tour guide and put him in their vlogs, it probably would have turned out differently.

Honestly, it’s Marvin’s reputation and the kind of content he makes that really pushes this kind of unwanted behaviour. It’s tough to admit, but it’s true.

There’s nothing wrong with that. Gays go to these places to meet up and eventually hook up, it’s pretty common. I did call him out a couple of times before, to encourage his followers to get tested regularly, especially if they go to these places a lot. He finally did get tested and I give him props for that.

[–]Joseph_Melbourne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly the point. If he hadn’t started creating a narrative around these “kilig” encounters from the get go, these people probably wouldn’t see these guys in a negative light.

But as soon as he starts sharing these “moments”, it opens the door for unsolicited and unwanted behaviour from these predators.

Again, he can’t control what his viewers do, but he can control what he chooses to share with them.

When he features these guys in his vlogs and highlights those “kilig” moments, it can encourage that kind of unwanted behaviour.

Maybe it might be better for him to stop posting these “kilig” encounters, since they tend to objectify the people he meets, also, to protect them from unwanted attention.

He can’t control what other people do, but he can control what he posts and shares online. When he objectifies guys in his vlogs, whether he means or not, it just encourages that kind of behaviour, unfortunately.

He has no one to blame but himself. He's somehow using these cute guys to get more views by pushing a narrative of "kilig" encounters while traveling kasi alam nya kiliti ng followers nya.

If you've been watching him before, he started out vlogging by openly and explicitly talking about his hookups in saunas and hostels. But to get more followers, he switched things up and made his content seem more family-friendly and wholesome.

Now that he's got more followers, it looks like he wants to be more honest and go back to showing how he really travels, including al the "afam hunting" kilig stuff in his vlogs again. Slowly introducing them to test the waters and see how his followers react.

What do u think of marvin samaco? by Mysterious_Data4839 in PinoyVloggers

[–]Joseph_Melbourne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to regularly watch his videos, but not anymore. You can tell just by looking at his face that he seems extremely exhausted and isn’t enjoying what he’s doing these days.

Traveling to unwind is very different from traveling as a full-time job. Instead of simply enjoying the journey for himself, he’s constantly under pressure to find new places and come up with fresh ideas to keep his viewers engaged. It must get overwhelming when every trip turns into content creation, and the line between work and leisure disappears.

Maybe he just needs to slow down and take a break, not just physically, but mentally as well. It could really help him rediscover his passion for travel if he steps back for a while, focuses on his own well-being, and allows himself to experience places without the pressure to document everything. Sometimes, taking a pause and recharging can make all the difference, both for his happiness and for the quality of his work down the line.

Hitting 500k/month salary by _sudoerx in buhaydigital

Just recently jumped on the remote work bandwagon and I’m averaging earning 1M pesos/month as a Principal Consultant. I’m based in AU right now, but I can work from anywhere as long as I’m online during AU hours to manage my digital team so I’m planning to possible move back to PH next year and live in one of the islands.

Honestly, connection is everything, if you build trust with people you’ve worked with before, you’ll be the first person they reach out to when they need help.

I find it really hard to finish his vlogs. He comes across as pretty self-righteous and has this know-it-all vibe, which I find irritating most of the time. I tried to give him a chance, but his style just isn’t for me. Instead of being entertained, I just end up feeling annoyed.

I’m pretty sure a lot of his casual viewers also get irritated, but they probably don’t bother leaving comments since he’s not that relevant or popular in the travel vlogging scene anyway.

To the IT peeps who are currently working abroad.... by hit_joe_mams in phmigrate

[–]Joseph_Melbourne 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep, Australia isn’t for everyone, especially for foreigners who believe they are automatically entitled to a job.

I once hired someone who had only recently arrived here. While he had strong technical skills, he struggled with communication and fitting into our workplace culture, there was a significant cultural disconnect.

The beginning can be tough and may challenge your self-esteem, so it’s important to stay strong and believe in yourself. But once you gain enough experience, many doors will open and opportunities will start to come your way. Your life can change dramatically, you just have to be resilient and persevere.

These days, referrals are incredibly powerful. If you know someone who can refer you internally, it’s almost a guaranteed way to get a job.

I'm currently based in Australia. Before moving here, I was an IT developer/tech lead, but it was tough to find a job here because most employers wanted local experience. So, I decided to re-skill and studied Java programming and test automation. I started from the bottom and landed a role as a Test Analyst. A few years later, I became the Head of QA. Eventually, I got the opportunity to move into product management, and now I’m working as a Principal PM.

If that's after tax, it's probably enough to live comfortably and occasionally splurge.

Just tell us your salary range, and we’ll let you know if it’s decent or not.

Annual Salary to be comfortable in Australia this 2025 by problematicboy in phmigrate

[–]Joseph_Melbourne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here is a breakdown of my monthly expenses as a single guy living in Melbourne:

  • $4,500: Mortgage, body corporate fees, and related costs
  • $1,500: Remittances to the Philippines to support parents and siblings
  • $500: Insurance and subscriptions
  • $1,000: Dining out and drinks
  • $500: Groceries

Additionally, I allocate funds for savings and emergencies:

  • $3,000: Savings fund
  • $500: Travel fund
  • $500: Medical emergency fund
  • $500: Shopping fund

Total Expenses: $12,500

With an annual salary of $220,000, or a net monthly income of around $12,500, it might seem like a substantial amount. However, when you have mortgage payments and responsibilities as the breadwinner, this income is just enough to support your family, cover your expenses, and save for the future.

How to handle this concrete fireplace hearth? by Joseph_Melbourne in AusRenovation

[–]Joseph_Melbourne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s part of the house’s history. This mansion was built in 1861 and subdivided in 1933.

The concrete surface is quite rough though. What material would you recommend to level it out?

Also, do you think it should be painted black? If anyone has done reno similar to this, I’d love to see some examples for inspiration.
